I think I read that book or one very similar back in college for a WWII history course
It is a great book. The courage of those Destroyer Captains to charge straight at a fleet of Battleships and Cruisers is astounding.

Happy Birthday, Johnny Carson!

Johnny Carson was a pioneer who understood the power of entertainment and storytelling. His vision continues to inspire the next generation of creative innovators at Nebraska.

Through the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts and Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, students bring together creativity, technology and storytelling to explore new possibilities. It’s a fitting tribute to a Husker whose career helped shape the future of television.

On his birthday, we celebrate Johnny Carson’s enduring influence on the arts at Nebraska and the students carrying that spirit forward.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

The United Nations Is Formally Established (1945)
The United Nations (UN) is an international organization founded to promote peace, security, and economic development. Representatives from the US, the UK, the Soviet Union, and China first met in 1944 to discuss the problems involved in creating such an agency, and the results of their talks became the basis for the UN Charter that was ratified in 1945. Established immediately after WWII, it replaced the essentially powerless League of Nations.

A player once had a season with 27 sacks, 91 tackles, 40 TFL, 44 QB pressures and blocked 4 kicks at a blueblood program...and only finished 10th in Heisman voting.

Ya we discussed DT in the off season had he not been up against Barry Sanders it would have been a slam dunk or should have. Tragic he and a friend died in the crash

THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

The Charge of the Light Brigade (1854)
The Charge of the Light Brigade, immortalized in Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem of the same name, was an ill-advised British cavalry assault on Russian forces during the Crimean War. As a result of miscommunication, British soldiers advanced on heavily armed Russian troops who thought their attackers must be drunk. Though hundreds of British soldiers were killed or injured in this battle, their commander, the Earl of Cardigan, survived

On this day in 1870, the Battle of Belly River was fought.

Fought between the Cree and Blackfoot in the present-day location of Lethbridge, AB, it was a Blackfoot victory and the last major battle fought between the First Nations in the Canadian Prairies.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

President of South Korea Assassinated by His Chief of Intelligence (1979)
Park rose through the ranks of the South Korean army and was a member of the military junta that overthrew the civilian government in 1961. Two years later, he was elected president of South Korea. Although his government aided economic progress through export-oriented growth, Park became increasingly dictatorial and was assassinated by his chief of intelligence in 1979—the last of several assassination attempts against him.
