On November 20, 1977, Walter Payton set an NFL single-game rushing record by rushing for 275 yards on 40 carries for the Chicago Bears against the Minnesota Vikings. He accomplished this feat while battling a 101-degree fever from the flu, and the Bears won the game 10-7. Payton's performance broke the previous record of 273 yards, set by O.J. Simpson

Weird History: in Super Bowl XX, despite the Chicago Bears putting up 46 points on the Patriots, Walter Payton did not have a touchdown.

But you know who did? Defensive tackle William "Refrigerator" Perry. He had a rushing TD.

Sweetness was fun to watch. Perry was a gimmick. And wouldn't even be that big by modern standards (for a lineman), if I recall correctly.

I dunno, Perry I think was "listed" at 335#, but word is he was more like 380#. His real weight would still be pretty goddamned big.

Windows wasn't worth it until 3.1.  I just used a dos shell up to that point

Same here.  I was glad to try Windows because my middle school brain became convinced that DOS 6.0 was just a virus that Microsoft had decided to market as an OS.

I didn't realize at the time that all Windows versions ran on top of DOS in the background until XP, probably in about 2001 or so.

All *consumer* Windows versions...

Many of us (myself included) installed Windows 2000 which was in the lineage of Windows NT and not meant for consumer use. But since Windows 98 sucked, and Windows 2000 was more consumer-friendly than NT, it bridged the gap.

Tha hell you say. Win 98 was awesome.

my favorite versions were 98, XP, and Win 7. 95 was awesome in a nostalgic way but buggy. Despised Me, 8, and whatever else they had in between.
