We go by Conyers on the way to Monroe, on I-20. Suffice it to say it's a LOT different now. When I was in college in Athens, I drove by Monroe on the way, there was and is a bypass. I never ventured into that town until a year or so back, they've done a very nice job. But "Atlanta" is creeping up on them...
This suburban sprawl is something I don't see in a typical day, so I kinda forget about it. That is a thing the French do better than us, I think. The SMSA here is 15 counties, granted they are small counties because the state has 159 of them, more than any other "state" (Texas is not a state). Chain restaurants go on forever.
At some point I'd guess "they" add Gainesville and Athens to the SMSA and call it whatever.
I should say something about kitchens though ... These places with open kitchens, restaurants, can be interesting.
