Favorite album?
I got in trouble in 8th grade English class for writing a sonnet with plagiarized Maiden lyrics.
Most unfortunate, however, they were incestuous in nature, and my 8th grade brain was still fairly uncorrupted and didn't make the connection. I caught some heat for that error.
In theater class about once per month, we had to write a book report on a play we'd chosen to read. It had to include proper citations in MLA format, all the bells and whistles.
I liked reading, I liked reading plays, but one time I either forgot about it or blew it off, and so I realized maybe a day ahead, that I had this assignment due. I didn't really have time to read an entire play and write a report about it, so I just invented one and jotted down all of the essentials into the report format. We'd just recently performed a play by Moliere named "The Imaginary Invalid" and in the course of rehearsing and performing that, I'd researched several other of his works. They all had fairly common themes, a familiar cast of characters that tended to feature one main male character at the center, and quite extensive use of farce and comedy of manners. Many of them also were titled beginning with the article "The" and then followed by an adjective and a noun, much like The Imaginary Invalid. They were also all written in French and translated to English, so some wonky styles and slightly off naming conventions could be expected.
Thus, "The Friendly Politician" was born. As noted in the thorough citations, it was one of his later works and followed the hilarious chaos and calamity of a family in Paris whose patriarch was a Parisian diplomat, and whose family had zany adventures associated with the upcoming marriage of one daughter, a prodigal son back from Firenze, and youngest daughter trying to stay relevant in the family. I don't remember much more than that but suffice to say it was a play that could easily have been written by Moliere and might have been better than about half of his actual works even though it was clearly ripping off some of Shakespeare's finest.
I received an A+ of course although I'm not sure my drama teacher ever even read it.
