Definitely prefer on-campus games, the atmosphere gets lost playing in a neutral site, NFL stadium.

more children have died from gunshots in Chicago just in the first 9 months of this year than children have died in the entire US of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic a year and a half ago.

Hide yo kids. Chicago more dangerous than covid.

Chicago needs to get this figured out; it has been going on for years. It is like the 1930s all over again. I have not felt unsafe in Chicago but safety depends largely where you are at and at what time. D.C., Miami, and other places were murder capitals too, and there were corrections.

Right now, Delaware County, Iowa, where I am, has had more killings and shootings than you could imagine for a rural county. Some of you will probably know Todd Mullis was convicted in the corn rake murder. Despite the opening account on the video in the link that follows, not everyone knew Amy Mullis -- I didn't know her.

We had another farmer who shot his girlfriend who was breaking off the relationship a few years ago, he complained to her she was taking too long to die, and allowed her request to make a phone call to say goodbye to a family member. She received help but her lower limbs were paralyzed, as there was a severe spinal injury.

Several months ago we had another killing in a small town in our county. I know there have been more killings the past few years but they are not occurring to me right now. It is odd this is going on in a rural county.

About 20 years ago there was a murder-suicide of a young couple. and before that the last murder was circa 1976. There have been several the past 10-years. We are not much different than Chicago; I don't understand it.

All that said, I spoke to one of my best buddies today while he was en route to Chicago to see a Cubs game Friday, and the Wisconsin-ND game Saturday. 
He is a Notre Dame alumnus.

GAME OF THE WEEK
#12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-0) vs. #18 Wisconsin Badgers (0-1, 1-1)
NOON - Chicago, IL - FOX
As much as I hate neutral site college football games, this one actually makes some sense, and could be fun.  Chicago is sort of the epicenter of Big Ten fandom, Notre Dame has a heavy alumni/fan base there as well.  Soldier Field has more personality than the run of southern domes that host the Labor Day weekend games.  So, I'd rather this be in South Bend or Madison, but if we've got to this, it could be worse.  Notre Dame is undefeated, but in a manner that raises more questions than it answers.  They needed overtime to beat a Florida State team that might go 3-9.  Nearly lost their "streaming" game against Toledo.  And finally looked ok last week, but far from dominant, in beating Purdue by two scores.  But they actually have a quarterback who Wisconsin should probably be envious of.  Jack Coan has been terrific, and Brian Kelly's trust in him has grown each week.  And the Irish, who were full of question marks at receiver, with the only sure thing being tight end, has much more of a downfield passing game than anybody expected.  But they haven't faced a defense like Wisconsin, who is #2 in the nation in total defense.  The question is the Wisconsin offense.  Yes, it looked much better against Eastern Michigan.  That offense is always going to be low variance, and whenever the Badgers face a team with a significant talent disadvantage, they maul them into the ground.  The great Wisconsin teams are the years where they are also able to impose their will on teams with even to better talent (or they have Russell Wilson).  Week One still has me worried about whether this is one of those years or not.  Graham Mertz is a blue chip recruit, who had an amazing debut.  But he was pretty dismal after that, and those hoping it was just a post COVID blip, the results against Penn State were not inspiring.  He struggles facing pressure, something Wisconsin quarterbacks rarely have, due to an NFL offensive line, and a running game that makes for a killer play action attack.  I have not seen Mertz look comfortable at all in the play action game, and if the Irish keep hitting on long plays, that should be enough.  Even if it's all boom or bust.

I'm not so sure Coan was very good vs Purdue.  Most of his yards were YAC and he was not very accurate

Okay, still finding guys with open running lanes. 

You don't need to throw it on a rope 40 yards into tight windows in order to be a good QB at the collegiate level. 

You just need to have a knack at getting the ball to the right guy at the right time.
