I kind of assume Trump isn't in change of the country now. And I actually hope, he isn't. We vote for a politician who stands for a set of ideas, then they appoint people to implement the ideas they promoted. I think that trickles down. I don't actually think most congressmen read what they vote for. And I don't think we want them to. That's like being mad Brad Pitt doesn't write his own movies. He's a performer, and he performs in certain types of movies. If we don't like his movies, he goes away. I don't think many politicians know what they vote for. They are the public face of a bunch of Ivy League 25 years olds, on $25k salaries, who generally agree with what the dancing monkey ran on, who tell them what to think
That’s kind of a depressing take 😉
The question about who was signing things has to do with the fact that they’ve been hiding Biden since the 2020 campaign (Covid provided a very convenient excuse). So many anecdotes have come out about how far gone Joe was such as getting him all made up with makeup for an appearance but having to scrap it because he wasn’t coherent. And now they’ve taken his phone away LOL
And I say this after being witness to my step mom who this week had to be moved to a memory care facility. She can sound and look very coherent at times but then she’ll forget who her kids are and she called me once talking complete gibberish.
We wouldn’t want someone like that with the nuclear codes.
All that said, when they are passing omnibus bills that are 1000 pages long and then only give a few hours to vote on it we know no one besides the few who write it are actually reading it before voting which is not cool at all.
And since the majorities are so thin in both chambers they end up voting on party lines for these because then there’d be no way to get them passed. The legislative process does seem to be seems so corrupt now. I’m not sure how it gets fixed.
