I think a "quick strike" somewhere involving ground forces that got out in 2 hours wouldn't sway opinions here badly, if successful. Anything prolonged, yeah, they'd get hammered and rightly so. I don't think even Trump would consider any kind of ground invasion.
Remember Carter basically lost the election because of an attempt to go in and get out. I didn't like the concept behind that raid anyway, but I suspect he felt forced to try something, and it failed badly.
The only thing the US should even contemplate would be a couple bombs on Fordow, and I'm against that.
