I used to think that most flat-earthers and chem-trail people were really just trolling everybody, similar to how the Flying Spaghetti Monster people are just really trolling.  Then I met a few and I realized they are dead-serious.  I had a guy telling me the other day about the "ice wall" and chem-trails and lots of other major conspiracy theory stuff.  Wild.

I still think MOST are trolling.  Some are, well, misinformed.

And probably mental.

Some folks are for whatever reason susceptible to various conspiracy notions, often many of them together, it's a kind of "fad" I guess.  A person who believes in "chemtrails" likely also believes in a lot of other silliness.  I've met a few.

I had dinner with a true-blue flat-earther less than two weeks ago.  This guy is a Vietnam vet who in the last year had an infection in his head which scrambled his verbal ability for months and ultimately necessitated the doctors drilling his skull and taking a small piece of his brain.

I conclude these things are not unrelated.

Interesting development here. I think we're going to see more and more of this - from both sides.

Ex-Biden press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announces switch to independent with new book

What was the driving force behind the replacement of the redhead with this woman?

I once had a neighbor in our first condo who was an MD, young fellow, seemed nice etc.  Then he got to chatting about "stuff" and I came to realize he was unhinged.  This was the time they added metal strips to paper money and he seriously told me the strips would take our fingerprints for the government could monitor the dark economy.

I avoided him after that.

That was a pretty decent condo for under $80 K in 1981.  I sold it six years later at a modest profit.  Interest rates were pretty crazy.

Press secretary is a thankless (and now fairly pointless) job.  I don't think many (any?) last a full term

Biden had 2

Trump 1.0 had 4

Obama (over 8 years) had 3

GW (over 8 years) had 4

Clinton (over 8 years) had 5

GHW only had 1, so you have to go back 30 years

I view these "daily briefings" as completely irrelevant aside from the occasional "made for TV" brew up.  The questions are nearly all "gotcha" questions and the PS is generally prepared with some response to defuse same.  I can't recall ANY useful information parlayed in one.

I'd eliminate them and replace them maybe with a simple piece of paper covering issues du jour, if that is even needed.

Yeah, functionally the same.  With rare exceptions, they are entirely predictable.
