The odds I would want a 24 year old GF for anything but, well, you know, are remote.

For the record, cars that are high-performance forced induction ( either turbo or supercharged) will definitely give you more horsepower with high octane. It’s not debatable and has been proven over and over and over again with Dynos  and track racing slips,

For every day driving, most people would not notice a difference.

But I’m taking cars to the track and ran 91 octane, then 93, and then 100 and each produced faster times than the other.   In fact, the grand Wagoneer I just picked up tells you in big bold letters that you’ll only achieve high output 540 hp with the 3 L twin turbo, by running premium fuel

Well there you have it.  Maybe I'll go ahead and give it a shot with that $20 experiment.

Try timing a quarter mile or 0 to 60👍

in fact, if you go to purchase an aftermarket performance tune, where they are pre-programming your ECU they will have you choose the octane you are running because they map the ECU differently for each level of octane.

or they’ll give you a set of “maps” that you can run with each one being more aggressive, but will tell you not to even try to run the more aggressive tools without premium fuel

I will probably not attempt this whilst towing 8,500 lbs of RV travel trailer. ;)

Yeah I think there are even tunes specifically for towing.  I never bothered with them before because the truck was still under warranty and I didn't want to risk any manufacturer shenanigans, but it's been a few years now, I suppose I could look into it.

This is because they are tuned for it from the factory.  Mundane turbo cars generally will not.

pretty accurate with where I'm at

I don't need suggestions as to how many beer nuts I should have at a sitting

Last time I was pricing pickups, I noticed Fords were appreciably cheaper than Dodge/Chevy/Toyota.  (Actually, they were all freaking expensive compared to where truck prices have been for most of my life.)  I've never been much of a Ford guy, but if I get to a point where I get myself back into a pickup, it would likely be a Ford due to price alone.  I've heard the service records aren't great on them compared to the other brands in the last few years, but that's anecdotal and maybe completely wrong.

Wonder why they're cheaper than the rest, tho.
