And I'm good with that.  Each employer needs to make a decision based on what's best for them.  The federal government is too large of an employer to make case by case decisions.  Granted they do need to honor work from home agreements that were signed, because people made decisions based on that.

My employer initially pushed back, and then realized we lost production in the office

One of my snowflake nieces got the axe. She had a cush job in the Department of State, doing mostly nothing.

It was a job she was handed as the result of being a volunteer for the Biden campaign.

She not once reported to the office, and she had zero responsibilities. She was paid to do nothing - because she doesn't know how to do anything.

She is not hirable. Good thing she's a trust fund brat, I guess.

I guess all government jobs are similar.

Been there before.

“Learn to code, bro.”
Yep, perfect comparison.  I stand corrected.

Excuse me, but just because you work for the government does not mean you’re entitled to that job for life. In the real world people lose their jobs every single day. It’s a fact of life.

Who said anyone was entitled to a job for life?
Yes, people lose their jobs every day.

Who are you conversing with?  It's not me.  Some strawman or boogeyman.

Large swaths of people are suddenly losing their jobs on the recommendation of the richest guy in the world bending the knee to King Trump.

Waste and mismanagement should be identified and eliminated.  Duh.  But this is lazy and vague.  Who voted for Musk?

Who are the bulk of those let go?  Probationary workers, who have been on the job for less than a year.  I wonder why.

You guys can defend the clown behind the wheel all you want, but it's wrong.  Stupid and embarrassing.  I'm embarrassed for this echo chamber.

But you don't care.  And that's your right.  Just keep on poking holes below the water line, guys.  Great plan.

Who voted for Musk?

Who voted for Biden’s staffers, the ones obviously running the country during the four years that turnip brain was in the White House.

The American people voted for the guy who said he was going to enlist Elon Musk, to do exactly as he is doing. It was not hidden, and it should not be a surprise to anyone.

Who voted for the clowns who made 3,248 new rules, while Congress made 175 new laws?

Not a single Presidential appointee ever was voted on by the voters, it's a silly argument.  Some are of course confirmed by the Senate.  The idea that Mush was not elected is just ignorant.  Of course he wasn't.

I'm still quite dubious as to the actual size of his spending cuts.  Congress controls the purse, you really can't cut billions in spending authorized by Congress.  You can spend it more efficiently and with less waste of course.  A President lacks the authority to impound major spending.

I know some government entities are encouraged to spend every last dime that is authorized, so that they will possibly get the same amount of more the next year.

BUT, I'd guess there have been a few cases of not spending the entire amount allocated for whatever reason.
I'm not sure what happens to that "surplus or savings" but this seems to be what Elon is going for.

I remember when my cousin was in the air force (about 40 years ago)  he was some kind of supply person.  He told me he bought 100 typewriters to insure they spent their full budget so they wouldn't get less money the next year.
