McConnell had no choice to walk away- he’s barely alive and he was about to get primaried to death by the money cannons of Nicole Shannahan and Elon Musk. He’s incredibly unpopular in his own state and at this point he has been pretty much irrelevant in terms of his power brokering in the Republican Party in the senate. He’s walking away because he had almost no shot to win re-election.

I was talking to my dad about a fundraiser my oldest has for his travel baseball team, and he mentioned that we did one for my class trip to DC, that was cleaning Crisler Arena after a UM basketball game.  He asked if I remembered that dad and his kid who we found hiding in the bathroom to get out of doing it.  I did, and he asked what became of him.  I didn't know.  He didn't appear to be on social media, so I Googled him, and oh boy...

He married once in 2017, to the daughter of the US Ambassador to France under Obama, and the UK under Biden.  He worked for her dad.  No clue what the net worth is, but to score that kind of cushy ambassadorships, I can only imagine the donations.

They got divorced in 2019.

He is now married to Nicole Shanahan, he's the 4th guy in the photos with her, RFK Jr. and Cheryl Hinds at the announcement

Nicole Shannahan of course got her billions by marrying one of the Google nerds that's worth like $180 billion- having a kid with him then divorcing him.

a) how much is Merck or any other multi-billion dollar in profit making a year drug company paying this guy or has paid him in the past via directly or laundered money to him through donations/checks to non-affiliated NGOs, think tanks, hospital groups-whatever- which in turn then paid him? every single doctor or researcher who speaks out about anything health related should have to legally disclose any and all types financial information in detail going forward imo. Pharmaceutical companies should also be banned from advertising on television, radio, print, and web - just like they are in every other developed nation on earth save for US & New Zealand. 

b) SSPE is pretty rare- 1 to 2 in 10,000 people that actually contract measles develop the condition. 3-4 million people a year were getting measles out of a population of 190 million before the introduction of the vaccine- and around 300-400 people were dying every year- meaning even before the vaccines you were 99.999925% to 99.9999% to be A-OK and alive and well if you caught it. 

no one is saying measles doesn't suck- and it's pretty cool the vaccines have pretty much eradicated it- but let's cut the shit please- this is overblown bullshit distracting from the real problems- measles is not some existential crisis and never was even before the introduction of the vaccine.

And prove me wrong if you will- but I don't recall RFK JR ever saying day one I'm pulling the measles vaccine in the USA! Don't think he's ever made that claim....
