....because I'm not done bitching about it yet......
Here I am, three days out from requesting IT install a harmless, universally used piece of software on my laptop. They just finally came by and asked do I have an Adobe License. I'm like no, the university has the license, they can't expect me to do that. Yes, they say, but is their license affiliated with your university account? No, isn't that something y'all would handle before installing software? Correct, they say....they'll go do that right now and be back at some point in the future once the license is taken care of.
ffs. If you don't believe government work is inefficient, I'm telling you it is.
Meantime, I'm trying to transfer an assessment standard rubric into a new system, and because of formatting issues and a lack of software that allows me to get around that to copy and paste, I'm working my way through typing 134 pages. I'm a fast typist, but there are so many codes named things like "19 TAC §228.57(c)(3) / TEC §21.044(c-1)" that have to be exactly right, and all the compliance language that goes with it which must be exact and without error, with a lot of formatting, so it's actually really slow going. Instead of actually building the workflow on the new system, I'm spending days inputting the wording.
It might be a two-coffee kind of morning.
