I've got to share something about how we're post-truth, full bore.
I'm sure I've previously shared that there are companies now that bestow a label on a school for meeting certain criteria, which is not solely having to do with test scores. Most people know schools are given a letter grade based on test scores, both achievement and improvement.
So these designations call their awards an A+ award. This is to confuse people into thinking the school is actually designated an A+ by the state for achievement. It's branding to mislead the public. You have level C schools focusing on checking boxes for this company/program to get called an A+ school because you have no chance of actually achieving as an actual A+ school, as measured by the state.
So anyway, we go on a field trip yesterday to the local high school, to give them a sneak peek at it - it was great, they really rolled out the red carpet for us.
Their mascot/team name? The Champions.
So now every poster, banner, letterhead - anything, they're Champions. Your basketball team goes 2-17? Champions. Says it right on the jersey. Says it on the yearbook.
I have never been put off more in my life by a moniker like that. Just completely lame.
