Sharing what someone said isn't picking a fight.  Others' radical/emotional response is.

In January 1916, Father Flanagan opened Workingman’s Hotel in Omaha, providing low-income workers and homeless men a place to live regardless of race or religion. Realizing most guests weren't interested in changing their lifestyles, he learned many had been on their own since a young age. This inspired him to work with homeless boys to build successful men.

Yep.
Cast your vote, then put your head in the sand.
Got it.
I believe quite a few posters here did not vote for the individual to which you allude, and some may have voted for him with reservations given the alternative.

Anyway, as SF notes, it's a full time job to worry about what he says.

As for putting my head in the sand, about all I COULD do is rage at the sky and post on social media.

It's just embarrassing is all.

The president of the United States would blame DEI when you stubbed your toe on a table leg.

How did we get here?

OK, it's embarassing.  Film at 11.

If I felt embarassed every time a politician said something I consider dumb, I'd be eternally embarassed.

I get embarassed when I make an error.  When others do it, that's on them, not me.  I tend to get more amused when some politician says something stupid.

It's not like it is unique to one politician.

I've got to share something about how we're post-truth, full bore.

I'm sure I've previously shared that there are companies now that bestow a label on a school for meeting certain criteria, which is not solely having to do with test scores.  Most people know schools are given a letter grade based on test scores, both achievement and improvement.
So these designations call their awards an A+ award.  This is to confuse people into thinking the school is actually designated an A+ by the state for achievement.  It's branding to mislead the public.  You have level C schools focusing on checking boxes for this company/program to get called an A+ school because you have no chance of actually achieving as an actual A+ school, as measured by the state.

So anyway, we go on a field trip yesterday to the local high school, to give them a sneak peek at it - it was great, they really rolled out the red carpet for us.
Their mascot/team name?  The Champions.

So now every poster, banner, letterhead - anything, they're Champions.  Your basketball team goes 2-17?  Champions.  Says it right on the jersey.  Says it on the yearbook.

I have never been put off more in my life by a  moniker like that.  Just completely lame.

You can hold the stance that all politicians lie, that's fine and it's probably accurate.  But Trump is like a 5 year old lying.  His lying ability is embarrassing.  The fact that he ever got close to a presidential election is embarrassing AND so is the political environment that allowed it.  The societal situation that got him into a position of potential power is embarrassing.

We're we better than this?

OK, some folks no doubt are embarassed at Trump, fine with me.

I see it a lot on FB.  Life goes on.

I don't know if "we" are better than this or not.  Of course, part of the equation missing here is the alternative.  I could easily post substantial amounts of what she said that would be embarassing, in my view, but it's not embarrasing to me personally, nor do I feel some need to post it over and over to make some point and rattle cages.

I don't get embarassed by what other folks do if they are not family, and even then, ...

I'm sure the first President said things that embarrassed some

yes, it's more embarrassing to me that our political system gave us Kamala and Donald to choose from

perhaps there were some obviously better choices than Washington and Jefferson back in the day

My wife gets embarassed by what politicians in France say fairly often.  She starts into it and then realized I DON'T CARE.

A politician who appeals very strongly to 30% of the electorate is almost a shoe in to win any primary and then a crap shoot to win the general if his opponent is also not a compelling figure.
