I've still never tested positive, I rarely had any incentive to test.  My wife tested positive once of course.

I've almost been without a cold since early 2020, I had one that was pretty mild, and I tested as a result.  I credit clean living.

LOL. Just as you were making fun of everyone saying (despite me saying I'd not had it at all) that I had it...

Twice!

Don't blame us that you're a COVID magnet, buddy :57:
Everyone has had it for sure. I'd guess within the first year. Not everyone had symptoms. My brother had it in July 2020 and the only reason he knew is he had to get tested as he was going in for a colonoscopy.

That looks like the graph of COVID deaths?

Here's the CDC with an overlay of positive reported COVID tests though:

It's "weekly % test positivity", because I assume that TONS of infections are tested at home and never reported. I know when my wife and I had it in Feb this year, we didn't report it to anyone, so we were definitely uncounted. And perhaps they do it and I just don't know about it, but when they test patients in their own office I don't think they report test percentages to anyone either.

But I assume that wherever the sample is coming from, the positive test % out of all tests administered is probably a halfway decent proxy for how much infections are surging. And on that, it's showing a higher rate than any time in the last 2 1/2 years.

I really don't think I ever had it.  It's possible I did of course, I was paying pretty close attention to possible symptoms in 2020 and maybe into 2021.

I was tested prior to shoulder surgery, that was not pleasant at all.

We've reported home tests to our primary provider.

It's important to have as much data out there as possible, in our view.

Civic duty and all that.

Yeah, I don't know about that. As I've said, if it's a sample size of 1, or even 2, healthy people, a lack of symptomatic infection isn't good evidence that they didn't have it. But for many people, their personal networks are large enough that if one person had it and it spread to everyone within a household, the statistical likelihood that NONE of them would be symptomatic starts to dwindle.

My situation in that first year looked like this:

  • My wife and I live here, so that's two early-40s healthy adults.
  • She was going to the office every work day. The doctors were doing telehealth, but she and her medical assistant (early 50s healthy female) were in the office together every day. Social distancing, yes, but in the same place.
  • Her MA had two older daughters she lived with.
  • We had three kids 40% of the time. Starting in fall 2020, those kids returned to in-person schooling as well.
  • Those kids were going back and forth between our house and their mother's house. Which then involves her (mid-40s female).
  • At times, especially as we got later in the year and things calmed down, the kids also saw my wife's dad and stepmom, and their grandparents on their mom's side. So that brings in healthy older people (early and late 60s).

In the first year, I believe that not a single one of those 13 had a symptomatic COVID infection. If one or two of them had, especially in times where we knew that the kids might be going back and forth and/or that any of us saw those older people, I could buy that maybe we'd ALL had it and just most of us were asymptomatic.

But when you expand out that network and literally NOBODY had a symptomatic infection, it's a lot hard to believe that statistically we ALL had it and just happened to ALL be asymptomatic.

I as well never tested positive for it, but I suppose if all those experts on this board say everybody had it then I’ll just not argue lol

'Epicurean' sort of has a bastardized meaning nowadays.  Great philosopher.  Welcomed women and slaves.  Not the 'eat, drink and be merry' that many think of today, but more of a pain-avoidance, live plainly and pleasantly ideal.
