Listed to B. Obama’s DNC speech.  I could swear he was talking about Biden and his administration at several points.  Overall impression of the DNC…it was too touchy feely.  Seemed like they are running against themselves.

Let me know the last speech any politician gave that was remembered for more than a week and had any iota of impact on anything.  I dimly recall Obama gave a speech when he was an unknown that catapulted him ahead of the crowd and Hillary, I'd guess that was 2004.

Our local high school team, Westerville North, whipped Central last night. They have sucked for a while but last year had a turn around under former OSU QB Stanley Jackson. He lives around the corner from me.

"They" are in a bit of a bind as effective incumbents.  They have to present the recent past as being very very good while also saying they will fix it.  The best tactic is to go after the opponent of course.  I figure the real purpose of any convention is mostly "touchy feelie", gin up the base, figure out who gets to be Ambassador to Peru, who is in line for Assistant Associate Undersecretary Associate for Homeland Security, etc.

A President nominates over 4,000 folks to spots, many of them hidden and pointless sinecures, and the line for them is long with folks who have checkbooks.

A lot of truth. That’s why I say, the Ds are so much better at this than the Rs.  Optimism sells, and even obscures the truth. 
Trump says inflation bad, soft on crime bad, border and Fentanyl bad, and here is how I will fix it.  But he just can’t stop there, he has to hurl the personal insults- that erase the content of his policy message for a lot of voters.  Diarrhea of the mouth. 

Meanwhile, The other side is selling Hope and joy. And even though hope and joy won’t fix the problems or pay peoples bills transcends, the fact that the same people that are saying “hope and joy” are the people who brought the problems.

The Ds have reinvented and repackaged their message and actually pulled this off, giving the appearance that Trump is actually the one in office and the incumbent and his opponent is something new.  Ludicrous of course- But simultaneously brilliant. It’s working like a charm.
