it's not dangerous to keep tabs on what folks are thinking

it's dangerous for the media the change the ways people are thinking with false and exaggerated reporting of the issues

To some extent, I view this as the/a main job of "the media", both today and in the past.  I'm not saying I like it, I don't, but it's reality.  Nearly everything reported is hyperbole, or missing context, or simply "drama".  A news outlet that doesn't do this won't garner may eyeballs.  

I see it even among the business new channels I monitor.  Some "analyst" upgrades stock X and the price goes up that day.  OK, I get it, but there often is missing context.  I think in this case the readers don't much care about context even though their money is at stake.

Hard reality is often subtle and nuanced and has significant but complex context, and most "new media" fails to provide it, and few would read or listen if it did.  So, how people THINK about a topic is perhaps more important than "reality".  

If Russia armed Cuba with missiles, and Cuba in turn fired them upon US soil (like on my house), what would be the US reaction?

Cuba would be in BIG trouble

Russian missiles fired from anywhere on US territory would mean we'd retaliate, probably trying to take out any remaining nuclear missiles Russia had anywhere around the world.

Kinda like we are arming Ukraine, and Ukraine firing upon Russian soils.

There's a very big, very important difference. 

We haven't invaded Cuba.

US would turn Cuba into a f*cking parking lot.

Last time the Russians tried that in 1962 it nearly led to all-out nuclear war and the end of mankind. Probably the closest we've ever been to nuclear war.

Amazes me that people don't understand what we'd do if shoe was on the other foot. You really think we'd allow Mexico or Brazil to enter into a military alliance with China or Russia and let them build military bases and house troops anywhere near us, install missile systems anywhere near us, station naval warships and aircraft carriers anywhere near us, do joint military anywhere exercises near us? LOL.
