Yes. In the wake of COVID, as the economy returned to normal, help wanted signs were everywhere. Business actually went out of business due to the lack of available labor. At the same time, the Biden administration was getting all sorts of flak for not doing enough about the people who were crossing the border and trying to work in these jobs. That, to me, is the literal definition of insanity.

Then you do some research and learn about all the facts, which lead one to believe immigration isn't just a good but an essential part of a successful nation and economy. The national debate on immigration is almost entirely based on feelings and emotion. The Obama administration was one of the most aggressive deporters in history, and Trump ran on the idea that we were letting everyone in. Biden's immigration policy is hardly distinguishable from Trump's, yet people consider it "wide open."

Essentially, I feel our immigration policy is making us poorer, and both parties insist in policies which will make us poorer still.
What state do you reside in?

I’m told by people I trust that illegal immigration during trump was minimal and shot through the roof with Biden. I’m not talking about the media. I’m talking about ranchers who own land near or on the border, people that I know who work for border patrol, and other first hand observers.

And while we’re on the topic of immigration…WTF do we have so many foreign doctors?  I mean, it seems like more than half the Dr’s I deal with are not American.  Lots of Indians, Asians, a few Eastern Europe. Do we just not have enough medical schools?  And if so, do we need more?
Wouldn't say I'm an expert on medical school but America requires a bachelor degree with specific courses (such as organic chemistry), then the completion of actual medical school, which is another four years, then training in the field, which last a few years too. I don't think other countries have all these requirements, so it becomes easier to recruit doctors from other countries. Since our immigration system favors "skilled" workers, doctors are an easy addition.

This is what my impression is. Not 100%, because obviously some of them are highly educated and talented.

But we should not be making it harder for natural American citizens to be doctors here while making it easier for people from other countries.

Kind of the crux of the whole argument. Immigrants by and large don't have access to social security. Their kids tend to do better than native born. So they are a net plus to social security. Try as you might, the math ain't mathin' for you.
You are arguing for letting in more welfare recipients and my math doesn't work?

They may not be far right nowadays, but they remain mouthpieces for what is left of the Republican Party.
Someone has to reflect the opinions of the Republican Party to counterbalance the 10,000 DNC mouthpieces.

I loathe the notion that we need to let people in who are in STEM fields. Mostly because I deal with a lot of these people at my job and most do not impress me. I have no idea why we hire anybody from the University of Timbuktu when there are so many Americans with college degrees who can’t get jobs.
The Americans with degrees who cannot get jobs do not have STEM degrees. Those are too hard.

Art history, baby! Let's party!

And then live in mom's basement, complaining about their student loan.

No. Foreign doctors have to meet the same accreditation requirements that American doctors do.

The license to practice is granted only when that proof is supplied. (It's the same for my field.)

Most who come here have to do residencies, just as our own do.

From what I've read, not all countries require an undergrad degree to enter medical school. That significantly shortens the amount of time required to become a doctor. India, for example, does this, and that is where we import most of our imported doctors.
