Those prices are low compared to what we are paying here now.

$100 gets us a few bags - with no meat or booze.

Not in my world.

Overall GDP is good. Lately, not really.

Yeah no doubt.  Those prices are maybe 25%-50% too low depending on the item, compared to what I'm paying at my grocery store today.

What's the point of going to the store?

My grocery store has an excellent wine and beer department.

In Texas, liquor must be sold at a separate store.  And those stores aren't allowed to be open on Sundays.

Eggs are around $5 and a half gallon of milk is $5. Meat is ridiculous. Even seafood is higher now - cost of fuel for those captains is a major factor. At least it's fresh and good.

American and Swiss cheese are $7/Lb. Ham is $13. Turkey is $11. Bread $4. Lettuce $4. Tomatoes $3. Mayo $7.

Expensive sammitch.

All the same, minus the Sunday part.

I think this is a stupid law/rule/whatever to have separate stores, let alone be closed on Sundays. That would irk me to no end.

Ahh. In this house, I handle the Costco and my wife handles the regular grocery store. Costco is excellent for the booze and meats.

I don't believe you. I think that's like the inside out mist and roving bands of kidney thieves. Just an urban legend to keep drunks like me from moving to Austin.

(Ok, I actually do believe you. Blue laws are stupid a f.)
(Plus, that wouldn't affect me. I mostly drink beer, occasionally wine, and very rarely liquor.)

Huh. In a free state like CA, you can buy liquor at the grocery store. Even on Sunday.

I hear you can even buy lab-grown meat, if you're one of those freaks who is into that sort of thing. :57:

When Subway has BOGO foot longs, it's far cheaper to just get sammitches there than to make your own at home. We have one a mile away and we take advantage of it when they do it. We get 6 sammies out of 2 foot longs. Not bad.

In my younger days, I was a Sandwich Artist.

I deemed electrical engineering to be a better career path, though.
