And if we redirected ALL foreign aid, it still would be a relative pittance. That bridge in Cincinnati has a replacement cost nearing $3 billion, likely to go higher.
that's not exactly true. we run huge deficits here and are $34 trillion in debt. we need to make every single penny spent count- and take hair cuts and trim
everywhere. we flat out don't have the money to be sending to Israel or Ukraine or anyone, we just don't have it.
And we wouldn't have to cash out any infrastructure projects like that bridge in Cincinnati, we would use said public funds that should go here- but we send overseas like morons- to finance them.
Israel will have received something like $350 billion in foreign aid from the US (adjusted for inflation) since the close of WWII by the time their current MOU runs out in 2028.
By far the largest of any foreign nation. Israel is a
very rich highly developed nation- we don't need to be giving them aid for jack. They can buy weapons from the US with their cold hard cash if they need them. And not only do we give them aid, but they have been in the top 5 of countries we give aid virtually every year since the 1960's.
Israel receives around $4 billion a year in aid from US and that's just baseline. There is often supplemental military aid sent as they are often bombing the living sh*t out of one of their neighbors and need more money from us to buy more bombs- and things that aren't counted in that aid like grants for r&d, missile defense (DoD doesn't report those figures), loan guarantees, etc.. Oh yeah not to mention the Biden admin has been trying to get an additional $17.6 billion in aid to Israel right now as we speak.
We flat out don't have the money to be throwing in the toilet and giving away to other nations (especially ones that are rich) when we have a million and one problems at home and run $1.7 trillion deficits.
