Florida is starting to get really expensive to live in. Unless you are coming from the North with cash, it's really hard. The average home price in my general area has increased more than 40% in 4 years. Throw in higher interest rates, and yeah, it's a no-go for a lot of people.
south florida was always expensive, now it's just insane. this place is becoming like Southern California/Bay area in terms of home prices. Palm Beach island was always nutty expensive- so you have to separate that little enclave out- now it's just pretty much bananas everywhere in terms of pricing and you're seeing areas like Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Miami, Miami Beach, Coral Gables having home sales in those areas for $30+ million, $40+ million, $50+ million, $60+ million, $70+ million- which was basically only ever happening in Palm Beach island before. Most you'd see houses sell for on those previously mentioned areas might've been $20 million. Now there are houses going for that all day and way more. The amount of wealth that has poured into the area in the last 5 years is straight up retarded- and there was already a sh*t ton of it before COVID.
Shit box houses in Pompano Beach that used to go for like $250k are now $500k. You can't get a new 2,400 sq ft under a/c home from either a regional or national production builder (aka the shittiest builders there are) anywhere that isn't 15 miles west that builds cookie cutter shitbox same houses for under $1 million now. And that's with no options basic cookie cutter. And the houses 15 miles west might start at $700k instead of $1 million. And some of the neighborhoods 15 miles out west are actually even more than $1 mil off the but- there are some like Boca Bridges where it's nearly $3 million off rip for a giant turd box cookie cutter shitbox house from a big production builder. And people pay for it because of it's a huge gated community with landscaping, entrance, amenities, club houses, etc., but the fking neighborhood is 15 miles west of 95 the traffic is more of a nightmare going west than it is south or east- and the houses are giant pieces of shit.
feel like people aren't moving down this way in FL anymore unless they already have tons of money.
