Sure, the one in our garage is quite largish and pretty fancy and of course enclosed. Are Jeeps any better at off roading than some equivalent vehicle designed for the same purpose?
I know most SUVs are really station wagons with a higher stance and every convenience known to man and probably AWD. I saw a Jetta station wagon at Costco yesterday and mentioned to my wife that it was a nice design, if they had had a GTI version I might have gone for it, but they discontinued the model of course. Cadillac actually built some CTS-V station wagons with MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS back when. They were insane.
Jeeps are typically better at off-roading "out of the box" than most other SUV-type vehicles, particularly the Wrangler (built for off-roading) and the Gladiator (Wrangler with a truck bed), and the Grand Cherokee. I understand that if you go full out with a Range Rover or a Toyota Land Cruiser, you're in good shape as well.
The Grand Cherokee, Range Rover, Land Cruiser are all more "overlander" vehicles, meaning that they're more capable of competent behavior in some dicey areas, but they're not really designed for hardcore rock-crawling use.
Then you've got vehicles that are more akin to Wrangler competitors, like the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the revamped Ford Bronco, which likewise are good "out of the box" off-roaders. They're targeting the off-road market, with more aggressive approach, breakover, and departure angles in their designs, like the Wrangler.
That said, it's more a decision than a fundamental capability. The recipe to build a competent off-roader isn't rocket science. Jeep aims out of the box with a little more ground clearance, 4WD, and beefier suspension components to target the off-road market. Nearly any 4WD pickup truck or true 4WD SUV can be just as capable off-road as a stock Jeep with light mods.
