Collectively this list reads like the conventional interests a sitcom showrunner will write into a Boomer/Gen X side character named Jason (or Chris or Bradly) who serves as a generational foil to the “trendier” millennial characters living down the hall of their shared apartment building.
Our latest episode opens with purple haired Kayla, one of our central millennial characters, fighting against her latest “existential” moments of “feeling vaguely useless” while sharing a vape stick with her roommate near their Keurig Brewer (shameless product placement). Meanwhile, through his front door (graced by a Baywatch poster) Jason can be heard
emotionally aggrieved! Kayla, knocking, discovers Jason’s distress is over Motörhead tickets he’s just ordered, which are only available in digital format. Fortunately for Jason, all it takes is Kayla coaching him through how to download a ticket app to his smartphone while the live audience guffaws and farts along to Kayla affirming her restored feelings of usefulness. Jason celebrates with Kayla by ordering a round of Jameson shots at the downstairs bar. (Think Mike & Molly mindlessness.)
Promos for Season 2 hint at Jason (or Chris or Bradly) attempting more unpredictable interests – killer beekeeping, Tottenham FC, birdwatching, bidding at abandoned storage unit auctions, culturally appropriated food trucking, repurposing his undersized bathroom into an infrared spa? Tune in to find out!
