There's a clear correlation between poverty and crime, and quantifiable differences in poverty between urban vs. rural.  Seems clear rural areas have less need of policing.  

Life is "different" in cities vs. rural areas, but imo that doesn't account for higher crime and thus it's not needed to debate the various differences.  Alleviate poverty in cities, there'll be less crime.  It's the same thing in rural areas.  Crime is mostly committed by people from impoverished households....there just aren't nearly as many of them.

But your original point was that you appeared to side with the notion that we should do away with law enforcement.
I'm not against law enforcement. The EPA has a whole law enforcement arm, which can be quite necessary. Also can have overreach? It's the same with police, and every other government agency. Saying idly that we need more government to reduce crime seems to give a little too much credit to the government.

Is the protest peaceful? Do those protesting have a history of vandalism, arson and other nefarious activities? Are the police already stretched thin due to cuts that were implemented in response to the calls to defund the police? 

You are making statements of things minus context in an attempt to make a point. My suspicion is that you are not comfortable with your position, so you are throwing things at the wall trying to find something that will stick. That is not a good strategy to defend your position.

I am very comfortable with my position. I don't understand how it is "tyranny" for the Department of Justice to look at a protest and do nothing, but not tyranny if the National Guard is called in to be at the protest to provide "order." Feel free to explain it to me.

not a good comparison

the NG is there to control violence not to arrest folks for protesting

secondly the NG is called out by the state not the national government

in this case the national gov is monitoring a local state matter and trying to intimidate

parents from voicing objections to how a school district is run

Detorit pizza generally thick crust, greasy crispy bottom, with crispy cheese on the sides. There is the whole sauce on top thing. Not sure if that is all Detroit style or whatever. It's pretty good - my recollection of what Pizza Hut pan pizza was when I was kid.

Frankly I'm more scared of someone with a gun directed to order me what to do, but I guess to each their own.

The EPA, the IRS,  the Post Office and most other Fed Gov't agencies that have law enforcement is overreach as the Federal Government already has a LE agency knows as the FBI. These other agencies are the very definition of "Overreach".

Once again, you move the goal posts. You are implying that those of us opposed to defunding the police are advocating for yet increases to police. Where has anyone made that argument? 

What I am saying, and I'm sure that there are others that may agree with me, is that we need law enforcement in areas where the crime rate is high. The notion that is being bandied about by many in these large cities is that if we reduce the number of police on the street and instead fund yet more social programs that crime would decrease or even go away. That completely ignores the fact that humans by nature are not perfect and that a number of people will take advantage of the situation and abuse their community for their own personal gain.
