Iowa State Fair

Today we're celebrating World Egg Day! 🥚💙
Did you know the Iowa Egg Council handed out 126,566 eggs on a stick at the Fair this year? We might be a little biased, but on-a-stick is the ultimate way to consume this savory treat.
Have an egg-cellent Friday! #WorldEggDay

Yeah, that's not really accurate.

  • The vaccine protects against all current variants. Delta is much more transmissible, which is why you're seeing breakthrough infections, not because the vaccine doesn't respond to Delta.
  • Typical antibody persistence seems to be somewhere in the 6+ month range for the vaccine. It definitely wanes, but not typically in the 2 month window.
  • B- and T-cell immunity memory doesn't mean your body will keep producing antibodies long-term. Even in the case of natural infection, your antibodies will wane over time.
  • The vaccine has been shown to produce B- and T-cell immunity memory as well. It is not different from natural infection in that case.
  • Where B- and T-cell immunity comes into play is not in preventing infection, but in preventing serious illness. There is data that natural infection confers stronger immunity from future infection than the vaccine, as the vaccine wanes. However the vaccine has still been shown to be >90% effective at preventing hospitalization at that 6 month timeframe, which is important.

There is also strong evidence that the immunity conferred by natural infection PLUS the vaccine (and maybe only one shot, not requiring too) is better than either natural infection or the vaccine individually. So there is benefit to anyone who has the natural infection from getting the shot. How much that matters for a young and otherwise healthy individual? I don't have a quantification for that.

That's fine. I've read differently and if I can come across it again, I will share it. However, I still will NOT be getting the vaccine as I have natural immunity. Everyone else can do as they see fit, that is their decision to make.

Everywhere except the coasts of Florida. Not a big Tampa fan, but the beaches up there are pretty damn nice (St. Pete and Clearwater).

Never been to Jax. Can't comment on that city.

It was safe last year, depending on the neighborhood, of course.

The problem is calling it Mexican food. It's fast food and must be compared to fast food. The steak breakfast crunchwrap is hands down the best fast food breakfast item out there.
I have a long break between school dropoffs on Tuesday, so I tried this.

You're wrong.

It's not even the best breakfast item on their menu. I also tried the grande toasted breakfast burrito and that was better than the crunch wrap.

Isn't that essentially the same thing, just in a different shape? The local one here hasn't started up breakfast again so I can't be sure.

Fairly similar, except that the burrito doesn't use a hash brown inside (just roasted potatoes), uses tomatoes instead of "creamy jalapeno sauce", and the proportions are different--I think there's a higher filling:tortilla ratio on the burrito.

The crunchwrap seemed to eat dry, whereas the burrito has more flavor and moisture. And I couldn't even taste the creamy jalapeno sauce at all. I would not order again.

The burrito wasn't bad for a fast food breakfast burrito--I'll give it that. A lot better than the travesty McD's calls a breakfast burrito. But I have such an embarrassment of riches to get amazing breakfast burritos around here (some that are even drive thru) that I still wouldn't be likely to buy one again.
