Update on life here:  Pretty much normal, a lot of businesses have mask signs up, but a fair number of folks ignore entirely or barely wear a mask, usually with nose out.  I've had to show my vaccine card once when we went to a concert.

We're leaving Friday for Colorado, by air, should be interesting, staying in Breckenridge and then up near RM NP.

The leaves here are just starting to fall, not change color so much as just littering the sidewalks, which makes it slippery when it rains, which it has been doing.  Our greater restaurant tour has abated somewhat, I had been trying a new place every Wednesday.  I am somewhat concluding they are "all the same", kind of, with the obvious differences, but value for money doesn't seem to have a real sweet spot that I have found.  The ethnic restaurants are closest I think, the ones up Buford Highway, but that's a bit of a drive for us, Hispanic and Asian places abound out there.

I'm still running a good but, probably will ease off in Colorado, Breck is at 3,000 M ASL.  We hope to do some hiking.  They have snow in their forecast on a few days we're there.  On Tuesday their predicted low is 22°F.  We're still hitting the 80s here of course, though that is falling off next week.  Heavier coat time for sure.

I do enjoy CFB season, not all of it, but SFSG.  Sitting on our couch all Saturday is not a great plan but I enjoy it, probably won't attend a game this year.  I might go to the Tech-UGA game, it's in walking distance, maybe two miles.

GM-backed Cruise targets 1 million self-driving vehicles by 2030 (cnbc.com)

We have discussed this a bit previously.  This goal, if achieved, would still be a small percentage of course, but for Lyft/taxis etc. it could really penetrate in larger cities.  This could alter our basic transportation structure in cities a lot, I think.  It might no longer make any sense to take short drives in a personal vehicle,  or ride a bus, or even take a train.

Folks here want to build some light rail, I wonder if the above is not a better option, build a dedicated road for these vehicles and forget the rail thing.

I haven't been to the Breckenridge area since I was in high school - skiing

my youngest daughter is engaged and planning a wedding in Silverthorne, near Breckenridge 12 months from now

I will be doing a recon mission there at some point

I stayed in Breckenridge in 2004, I liked the town a good bit.  That was in summer.  The wife is not much for cold weather, which for her is anything under 70°F.

I'll give a full report.

A friend of mine did a century bike ride this summer that ended in Breckenridge. Called the Triple Bypass due to the fact that it went over 3 high passes.

I just got back from Vegas - apparently they have a mask mandate.   I didn't go to any casinos.

Level 2, for streets now.  We're getting there, slowly, but making progress.

This will shake things up a good bit I think in 6-7-8-9 years, or so.

I've been doing hands-free driving ever since I went through my first drive-thru...

Since I know you all consider my word gospel when it comes to food...

I do not care whether it's a taco, or a sandwich.

What I know is that it looks disgusting, it's from Taco Bell so it probably is disgusting, and I will not be eating it.

Just about anything is better than light rail, which is basically a way that rich suburban yuppies can claim they're "using transit" and "being green" but don't have to sully themselves by taking a bus.

Maybe it's the best Mexican food y'all get in O-hi-o, but we have higher standards out here ;-)

The problem is calling it Mexican food. It's fast food and must be compared to fast food. The steak breakfast crunchwrap is hands down the best fast food breakfast item out there.

BTW, Columbus, sneakily underrated in Latino food. There is a Venezuelan restaurant by the courthouse that is just awesome. They moved out of an alley a few blocks away, and an Argentinian restaurant moved in there, which is also pretty danged good. Not just taco places anymore.
