It would also force the remaining XII school to expand further, to keep up. Tough to lose two helmets and do that, however. Maybe the MWC would be interested, and BYU.
Without Texas and OU, the ACC would pick what it wanted from the Big 12, 2 of which will replace what the B1G picked from the ACC.  About 3 schools would be left out totally, and the PAC might as well focus on lacrosse or something.

Is Texas (the University) really a fit in the SEC?  For christ sakes the last president wanted them to join the PAC-10. 
Texas is weird.....it and OU are supposed to be the big dogs in their dinky conference, but the Horns aren't that.  If UT joined the SEC, they'd become even less relevant.

There isn't going to be much left of the Big 12 board if they lose all of their Texlahoma posters. 

On the other hand they might liven the SEC board up just enough to keep Fro occupied.

We don't have room for Texas.  We already have Michigan, and we can only dedicate so many resources to appeasing helmet schools who aren't that anymore.

Maybe we need a retirement home conference where HS students can come read game recaps from the 70s to fan bases who don't know what year it is, to put on college applications?

Tennessee, Nebraska,...Minnesota could be a founding member of such a conference.  Vanderbilt, too, if you want to go way back.  Army, Navy.....
