We used to have "diversity training" once or twice a year at work.  A lot of it sounded pretty similar to this stuff, or what I understand CRT to comprise in some cases.  Now, we were adults and it was a go through the motions kind of deal.  We did have one session with the technicians attending where it got out of hand because the black technicians told the black "moderator" he was full of S.  It got so bad the moderator called our director, who called me to come with him to find out what was happening.

Basically, the moderator had presented to everyone the story that all the whites there were racist and they took it seriously and got unhappy, it really was no big deal, just get through it and go back to work, but some of the technicians took umbrage at the insinuations.

My technicians filled me in later on what happened, they thought it rather amusing.  The staff had the same deal later but with a different moderator who was, well, coached beforehand.  We treated it as a ticket to punch, be quiet, nod, get it over, and go home early that day.

It it's teaching history warts and all, fine with me, but if the idea is to make white folks feel bad about it by slanting the story so much that it is presented as THEIR fault, I can't sign on.  I imagine there are many variations called "CRT" that include a lot of different kinds of things.

Just teach history.

I'm talking about the term, not what history is.  Just teach history, if that is what this is.  No need for the polarizing terminology.

Teach history, done, no controversy at all ove some specific terminology.
Setting aside the particulars of this specific political fight/general boogieman-ing, history is always going to be complex in certain ways, and for better or worse, that will polarize folks.

Alas, everything has sides. One person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. One's patriot, another's traitor. Things ugly and brutish are dusted over, as has always happened and probably can't totally be avoided.

I figure HS history is fairly cut and dried.  At the college level, folks should be mature enough to accept "theory" and interpretation.

I know what I was taught in HS was, um, well, shaded, the US was always best and greatest and everything was hunky dory.

And the South won the war.  Or something.  I didn't learn much history in HS, we usually had coaches as teachers.

Memorize and regurg.

A lot of companies want the appearance of doing something without actually doing anything. That's why they impose diversity classes - it covers for their hiring practices. They often hire whoever would teach such a thing, which is usually someone who specializes in "trainings" and other fluff. It ain't CRT, really has nothing to do with it whatsoever.

Some of these laws seem aimed at making sure no one says anything bad about white people during history class. Some of them seem aimed at making sure no one feels uncomfortable. Sort of political correctness, I suppose.

The anti-CRT stuff is pretty shamelessly just white people making sure no one says anything mean about white people in history class. That's all it is.
😂😂

what a predictable load of manure.

not even close.  It is based on teaching all white children they should feel guilty, all black/brown people they are oppressed victims, and that everything should be viewed through a racial lens. In other words- racist, divisive crap that ensures the racial hatred not only continues, but that the seeds are planted and fertilized at much younger ages.

you need to educate yourself on this before making such ridiculous comments- and stop the MSM news feeds.

So at Woka Cola.... em.. I mean Coca Cola, the classes they forced on their employees was targeted at asking White people not to act so white.

you see how far off you are from reality?

Sadly- history has nothing to do with it.

teaching ALL children to hate, and that race is the basis for how everything needs to be discussed- now that is sad.

Thankfully- the voices of ALL colors are growing rapidly against this racist and divisive curriculum!

I read a bit about CRT, what I read is all over the map, but SOME of it closely resembles what I endured at work.

I was involved for ten years with recruiting, there was certainly major discrimination there on the basis of race and sex.  One year, there were two blacks in the country with the degree required, and our goal was to hire both of them, sight unseen.  One year we were told no white males would be invited for on site visits, not one.  Our hiring targets were typically 30-90 each year.

We had diversity training each year because each VP had to put on his perf eval he provided diversity training.  He'd tell his admin to find something out there and have at it.  If they did not meet their diversity targets in hiring, they would lose stock options.

My closest friend at work was from South Africa, had red hair and freckles, his parents were Brits.  We discovered at one of these meetings about targets that the Company counted him as African American.  He was furious and wanted it changed but I managed to talk him out of that.  It was good for his career.

It's a number game, and those numbers impacted senior management's stock options at the end of the year.  It wasn't hidden at all.  I recall circa 1995 we were told Asians no longer counted for "diversity" and there was a collective groan from the audience.  At least Asian women still counted.

Shot +20 today. +5 on the front and +15 on the back, so clearly the wheels were coming off a little on the back.

The two holes I pulled driver were 270 with a toe strike and ~300 with a cart path assist lol...

Took the dog to a brewery and then an outdoor mall this afternoon. He's now spent.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo for dinner tonight.
