Man, I wish caddies were still a thing.
I started working at 13 as a caddie. In Illinois at the time, the earliest you could get a normal job was 14 (with a work permit from your school), but caddies could start at 13.
I was hoping that there might be opportunities for my son this summer, as he turned 13 in August so he'll be 13 for the first half of the summer this upcoming year.
I called the private country club close to his mom's house, and they don't have caddies. I finally found a course which does have caddies, but they have a caddie partnership with an external firm called CaddieNow which will only take you at age 18+.
Then I checked here in CA, and you can't work anywhere until you're at least 14.
Kid needs a damn job to learn to appreciate what it's like to actually work for and earn things.
