To be fair, I'm not sure they'd really be able to distinguish the disruptions to flights or public transport, as being power-related rather than strike-related.  Samey-same.

The article mentioned possibly hacking but it seems too early to tell.

It wouldn't surprise me, and it could be an internal or external threat.  Lots of political unrest in those parts of Europe.

Dude, strikes are a common fact of life in Europe and have nothing to do with any specific political ideology.  You'd have to be working hard to get yourself butthurt to believe that's a political statement.

The power outage is a current event, it's news.

I'm not sure we need to be THIS overly sensitive to just the thought that someone's feelings might get hurt when talking about current events.

Help me out.....what am I missing?

All I see is two posts of yours back to back, this one seeming to be either a non-sequitur or a response to something I can't/didn't see.

My posts were moved from the apolitical thread.  I just posted about the power outage in Spain/Portugal, and then engaged in a discussion about it with bf.

I mean, that's fine, now I guess we can really open up a can of political whoop-ass on the topic if we so desire, but it's really just about a current event in Europe.

Who moved your posts? They are not appropriate here.

Who moved your posts? They are appropriate right here.
bwar did, and he provided his reasoning to me, which is fine.

I just didn't think it really warranted being moved to the political thread.

But here we are so let's get into it-- if intentional, was it the dirty Russian hackers making war on Europe?  Or some internal psycho group from their broad and crazy political spectrum of 97 different parties, each more leftist and extreme than the last???

I accept the reasoning.  It's fine.

I just think we're reaching a place of being overly sensitive.  I can appreciate wanting to keep the other thread clean, but it's still a current event that may or may not have any political implications at all.

Regardless, I'm gonna go with, the damn dirty Russians did it.

Yes, because devolving it into the question of organized labor / strikes in Europe is completely apolitical.

And because devolving it into a discussion of terrorist attacks--including potentially motivated by homegrown political unrest, is completely apolitical.

There was a time this board thought we could be adults and discuss policy, and look at where that got us.

I'm just trying to keep one safe haven where we don't throw feces at each other--or at least keep them to be apolitical feces. I'm NOT in a good mental place, and I'm trying NOT to let myself get sucked into any political crap. And people keep dropping political shit--or stuff that has the potential to go political--in the apolitical thread.
