Well they weren't billionaires at the time but big business sent a large % of mnfg jobs over the fence in the auto/steel/rubber industries - starting in the late '70s. Under the guise of building "world cars" - their words. Problem was they never lowered the MSRP - at all and companies pocketed the difference. Don't believe for a second that the workers in those factories didn't know it and that didn't bode well for quality

It's lame that any and all conversations about billionaires is stupidly whittled down to either "they are evil" (which I don't think many serious people believe) or "they are pious and we should all suck them off."

A lot of folks like the idea of billionaires "paying their fair share", but they don't want to deal with any particulars.  They want someone else to figure it out.

Europe tried it, maybe we should learn from that lesson?
