I was looking up at the "art" I have in my office, none of which is art, but it all has sentimental value.  One is a painting, which I guess is art, of that last INT in the UGA NC game a few years back by Ringo.

My kids gave it to me, it's kinda neat.  It feels like "we" haven't won an NC in ages.

One of my former bosses has a PhD in Civil Engineering (Hydraulics).

My wife has a PhD, but she saves the Dr. title for when her co-workers undervalue her.

It's competitive to get a professorship position, even at smaller universities.  I looked into it as an option, it was a LOT of work just to throw your hat in the ring.

And then it's a lot of work to get tenure.  Then you can choose to ease off a lot.

I started getting offers from industry and, well, they paid a LOT more.

A former Admn I worked under had a PhD - in Philosophy.Great lady didn't use position,inflated or condescending talk - had a PhD in common sense really. But philosophy??? A campfire,12 pack and 2 people wil get you philosophy

For some reason, I'm reminded me of my exit interview with this HR lady back when.  She wasn't, but one of the HR folks had a PhD in something.  I avoided HR like the plague of course, but I thought maybe the exit interview was a requirement.

It was hilarious really.

I did take a "history of fine arts" class in college. One class is good, and it was fun. 

I couldn't imagine majoring in it, let alone going back to get piled higher and deeper.

To be fair, she won't have to work at all. $75M trust fund baby. Husband is a Princeton Attorney in the financial arena. They live in a fancy place in Brooklyn. When not there, they live in a beach house in Laguna Beach. All the Harvard stuff is remote.

She'll probably squeeze out a few puppies in a few years and be Dr. Mom.
