The main reason why he won had much less to do with his celebrity and much more to do with the anti-establishment draining the swamp ending the pointless illegal foreign wars getting tough on trade message he preached and the abject failures that were the Bush II & Obama administration. We had 16 years of complete failure and incompetence by any objective measure you want to use to judge either of those two clown show Presidents. The American people were itching for an anti-establishment message, they were craving change to the status quo.
I feel like this is entirely you applying your own filter for why you want Trump and extrapolating it to everyone else. Because it's clear that you're picking your own pet issues here.
Yeah, so I know you're a card carrying Democrat type and the Democrats don't actually believe in democracy
Uhh, you mean the guy who was a registered Republican up until the mid-oughts and then became a registered Libertarian? The guy who has voted Republican or Libertarian in all Presidential elections, save one (2016)? The guy who regularly votes for the Republican in local/statewide races over the Democrat if there's no Libertarian running?
Yeah, that's me... A 'card carrying Democrat"

Yeah, so I know you're a card carrying Democrat type and the Democrats don't actually believe in democracy, but there is in fact a Republican party, and the way the Republican party nominates it's Presidential candidates is that it holds these things called primary elections- and the winner of said primary elections secures the Republican party nomination for President. And the Republican establishment and it's mega-donors never wanted Trump.
No argument about primaries. Trump won the primary. I'm explaining
how he won. I know the Republican establishment didn't want him.
But that's also exactly why I say there's no Republican Party, only the Trump Party. Because now that he's won, he's used the cult of personality to make everyone fall in line with him. Cross Trump and he will sic his sycophants on you and run you right the hell out of Dodge. There's no room in the Republican Party for anyone that is not in lockstep with him. Pretty much the entire party is now either full-throat MAGA trying to suck up to him, or keeping their heads down because they're terrified of him.
Oh and can we say there is no Democrat Party as well then going by your logic, and that there is only the Obama Party? Cause it sure as shit seems like the Democrat party has become the "what Obama says, we follow" party. Cause it was Obama that told Joe to sit this one out and picked Clinton over Biden in 2016 because Obama thought she was a better candidate. Let's not forget that it was Obama that got all the other candidates to drop out in the 2020 primaries before super Tuesday and line up and support Biden against Bernie- who was leading at the time- and it was Obama that pressured Joe to pick Harris as his VP even though Joe never wanted her. Oh yeah, and it was Obama with help from Nancy Pelosi that pressured the absolute f*ck out of Biden to step down in 2024. #Democracy.
I'm not defending the Dems here. The Dems have always been a party with an outsized role of "party elites". Remember the superdelegates? They specifically existed to make sure that the party elites could help sway the primaries to keep someone like Bernie, or someone like a Trump, out.
But specifically as to Obama? I have no doubt that he's trying to influence the party, and is successful, but what
power does he have? Does everyone on the Democrat side have the fear that if you cross Obama, he's going to personally try to destroy you politically? Is he marshaling his populist army via social media to attack anyone who disagrees? You're making a serious false equivalency if you try to say that anything Obama is doing resembles Trump in the slightest.
