Democrats talk about taxing the "ultra wealthy" a lot, it sounds good, but their plans are to raise income tax rates on higher income earners, and a couple of points, not that big a deal really.  The ultra wealthy of course don't worry about income taxes.

I worry more about this:

The Public's Debt
The ratio of debt held by the public relative to GDP fluctuated from less than 15% just before the Great Depression to more than 100% in the wake of World War II. It went back down to roughly a 25% ratio of debt during the 1970s. The ratio rose to nearly 48% by 1993 before falling to 31.5% by 2001. It has since risen at an accelerating pace, propelled higher by the consequences of the Great Recession, the TCJA, and the COVID-19 pandemic.15

Voters may dislike the national debt but the debt-to-GDP ratio makes for a lackluster rallying point in practice. Even economists can’t agree on what percentage is high. Americans profess to be concerned about the national debt when they're polled even as they overwhelmingly support defense spending and outlay for Social Security and Medicare and oppose tax increases.16

You can determine debt per capita or the national debt per person by dividing the U.S. national debt of about $34.64 trillion as of June 3, 2024, by an estimated U.S. population of 336 million. This yields a national debt per capita of about $103,000.

I would worry, but it won't change anything.  Neither party is at all serious about doing anything about the debt.  And if they did something real, it probably would collapse out economy.  If they had a longer term plan, the next batch would reverse it.

they probably also consider MoV without saying as much.  I'd certainly view a close loss as being different from a blow out loss.  A true top ten team shouldn't lose by 40, ever.  They might get clipped by a 7-5 kind of team on the road by 3.
From my observation and consideration of what they've said, I think they've done a good job.

They've frequently talked about "game control" and that is more or less how I view/analyze "MoV". I consider it as an issue of time. Specially, the question I ask is: "At what point was the game no longer in doubt?"

Neither side takes it seriously because (so far) there has been no consequence for running it up.  And while a country like China holds a significant amount of that debt, it can't play hardball about it because doing so would collapse their economy as well.
So it sort of becomes a non-issue, as dumb as that sounds.

I find it "funny" how public attention gyrates from one personnage to the next like a cue ball.  Right now I see report after report about a lady basketball player on a bad team as if it's "news".  Once it was the "Kardashians" or somesuch, and then it migrates along to others.  We get reports on AOC and MTG pretty often, but at least they are in Congress (to my dismay).  Then it was, and is, all about that female singer lady dating some football dude.

The "news" is about 90% garbage in my view.  At least I can read what I want on line and not watch them drivel on about whoever on TV.

I see the occasional interview with someone our protesting being asked questions and they don't seem to know the first thing about the issues, but perhaps most do and they only show the ignorant ones.
Chum for the masses.  Who to like, who to hate, who to blame.  Rinse, repeat.  Keep the hamster-wheel spinning.

How much of our debt do you think China holds?

My guess, 20-25%.  Not the majority, but the most of any country.  Let me look it up.

Jan 2024 - 10%, 2nd to Japan.  Down from 20% in the past, and the lowest % since 2009.

Okay, so I was sorta-kinda in the ballpark.  I think my point still holds true - China isn't going to stop sending us their stuff, holding out for a payment because without our purchasing of so much of their stuff, it would screw them and us.

the folks holding US debit are getting rich

no one wants the Chinese to get rich

I'd guess much is in International banks and loaned to USa congressmen and others in the USA that are making money and want that to continue

Getting rich? T-bills aren't known for their amazing returns. They're known for their SAFE returns.

I'd bet that a lot of T-bill holders right now are pissed because their returns aren't even keeping pace with inflation, because when they bought the debt, interest rates were low. They're likely losing value right now.
