meh. I'm not one who buys into the movie caricature baddie evil villain guy of every world leader who the US happens to be at odds with. Putin is a dictator. Basically a modern day king. Nothing more or less. Newsflash: those people tend to have people in their country who
don't fall in line killed.
Every leader kills people.
Every single one. Even ours.
Zero leaders of nations have clean hands. And FYI, our leaders have more blood on their hands than most. I'd guess that few leaders in history have been pure evil. Sure there have been sick ones that seem to enjoy it and kill to ethnically cleanse- but those are few and far between- someone like Hitler obviously is plain evil- wanting to kill people just because they are Jewish, Polish, Gay, Handicap, etc..,
pretty fcking sick and twisted. I don't see the evidence that Putin falls in line with this lot.
Alexei Navalny certainly did not deserve his fate, but Russia isn't a western democracy or some bastion of freedom. It's a dictatorship with limited rights. I'm sure Navalny knew this would eventually be his fate, and he had some serious cajones to stand up for what he believed in and speak out. And if you really look into the guy, he's not exactly a saint.
Serious racist, ultra-white christian nationalist, xenophobe, and homophobe. Does that mean he deserved to be imprisoned and killed for criticizing Putin, yeah not saying that. Of course not. No one deserves that. But the guy wasn't some leftist flower power hero- he had very little to no support in Russia, his views on race, religion, and sexual orientation definitely were shall we say extreme- and seems to me like he was basically nothing but a useful tool of the filthy corrupt criminal organizations known as CIA/MI6.
