Indeed.  If you look around,  Most civilized nations have a fair amount of restrictions, which evidences the middle ground of the issue, again without rule by judicial fiat.

Baker Hughes on Friday reported that the number of active U.S. rigs drilling for oil was up by 10 to 594 this week. That was the biggest weekly rise since the week ended May 20, Baker Hughes data show. The total active U.S. rig count, which includes those drilling for natural gas, climbed by 13 to 753, according to Baker Hughes. Oil prices continued to trade higher. August West Texas Intermediate crude was up $2.35, or 2.3%, at $106.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

or it might encourage folks to take precautions if they dont want to be parents

abortions have not been banned but left up to the people in each state what they want to do

its called democracy
Great, let's have even more pinpoint democracy and have each county vote on it.

I think that as time passes and folks begin to realize that abortions are still very much available things will calm down
Not available to the poorest and in the worst situations.
It's like you see I post something, don't read it, and automatically disagree with what I might have said.

Yeah, while we're at it, let's just get people to not speed while driving.

Here's a fun fact:
Arizona governor Ducey's idea for no-abortion legislation doesn't include rape or incest exceptions.

Soooo, how many rape babies is too many?  5?  100?  10,000?  Or are they all precious miracles?

Refineries are working at max capacity now.  Pricing for gasoline is set on the Board of Trade, in an auction, it's in short supply so ......

And those can't be fixed or set by anyone with deep pockets? This is a manufactured hit on the rest of us by the 1%ers

Paying a little more  for gas because you're a lead foot is not the same for footing the bill and tending to the needs of a living/breathing human for the 1st 18 yrs of it's life. Something I'm sure you have experience with

No clue where you went with that.  The obscure leaps made here sometimes are astounding.

Sure, it could be, but making a large investment in refining is probably not wise right now.

The bad news is more refineries are slated for shut down in the next year.  A few are expanding, but the shortfall would still exist barring recession.

I personally would not invest in expanding a refinery.  EVs are not going to save us shorter term, not for a decade anyway.

it seems to me that the trend for the next 10 years is upward for gasoline consumption

with good profit margins

I'd think a refinery could have a decent ROI

Refineries generally have a 30-50 year life span and cost billions, and you have significant permitting issues.  Coupled with future uncertainty in gasoline usage, I wouldn't be interested, at all.  Either way, no new one has been built in the US for decades, some existing ones have expanded.  It's well known we have a shortfall in refining capacity right now, which means a shortfall in gasoline and Diesel.

And it may get worse.
