The midterms are generally bad for the party in control. Republicans lost 41 seats in the House in 2018, and I expect about the same shift this time.
"We" elect someone and then find they didn't deliver on their promises, so we try someone else, and back again, usually a President is reelected and then the other party gets the spot. I also think our economy is going to slide, perhaps into a technical recession, by end of year. It might be a fairly mild recession, but enough to tip us into stagflation. Inflation (and the economy) is the key issue right now.
I then expect Republicans to spend a lot of effort on hearings and "investigations" that lead pretty much nowhere. That is the best hope for Democrats in 2024.
