going through some old pics from 2004, noticed I was at the Roshambo Winery on Westside Road in Healdsburg.
With a quick google search it appears that placed failed and is no longer
we visited 3 wineries that day. Roshambo wasn't my favorite
I've been there! Cool logo/swag, cool grounds; I don't particularly recall anything positive about the quality of the wine lol... Probably why it failed.
I first found Westside Road trying to get from Korbel out on the Russian River back to Healdsburg without driving all the way back to where River Road hit the 101. I saw on the map that it connected River Road to Healdsburg and figured I'd give it a try. The first part of Westside Road (heading east from River Road) was a goat track... Narrow, windy, in dense forest. But then it just opened onto Sonoma Valley and was dotted with a bunch of wineries.
On that trip I ended up picking one, called Belvedere (no longer in operation, sadly), and had the most amazing Zinfandel of my life--it was the start of my love of Zinfandel from the Russian River and Dry Creek Valley regions. On a later trip the goal was to hit several wineries on that road, and Roshambo was one of them. I also really liked Hop Kiln, but that also failed I believe. Really cool place. It looks like
the grounds are now owned by Landmark Winery, but I don't know if the wine is any good.
My next wine trip will be Paso Robles in March... But I'm going to have to find a way to get up to Napa/Sonoma sometime in 2022.
