I zapped mine too.
FB/Twit/Inst are ruining the world.
I saw a Ted Talk a few years ago that reviewed evidence that people who don't use social media are happier than those who do. I was in the middle of some very bad years, so I thought I'd try it. I quit facebook for 6 months, or a year, I don't remember. As it turns out, I do believe I was happier and that it helped.
Ever since then, I still use FB, but very sparingly. I pretty much track people's birthday's with it so I can wish them happy birthday, and maybe read the top post in my feed that's on my screen, and I'm done. Sometimes I will also post. About once a week I'll spend a little while, maybe 30 minutes scrolling through my feed and checking on certain people. This seems to be a good compromise. I feel like I stay up with my friends well enough, and I still feel better than when I used it significantly more. I also deleted the phone app because it used to be that the temptation to scroll fb while I was away from a home computer was great. Turns out my phone operates much better without FB and Messenger on it anyway.
Never had Twitter. Had Instagram for a while but I started noticing the same thing about it....I was happier the less I used it, so I haven't for a good while.
Erm....I might be forced to admit addictive nature of other online enjoyments....certain multi-team/multi-fan cfb sites and an LSU site where people
need my correction because they're wrong so much. I'm kinda ashamed to say this, but while I'm in a semester, I blocked my access to this site and one other. Too much of this and not enough studying

so I hit the nuclear option. Turns out, I'd talk to you goons all day long and never get anything done if it's left up to me. Oddly enough, when I worked at the only "real" job I've had (I work now, but I'm paid so little I hardly count it as a real job), I had plenty of time to chat on here. As I've always maintained--and will here once again--school is harder than the real world. My wife rolled her eyes and said "Can't you just not talk to your football friends?" I was like "Babe, just set the password and don't tell me, but you have to let me back on in the Christmas break." So here I am :-D
