I dunno. The legalized theft that college football used to be also made me feel dirty. While the portal and payments have certainly changed things, parity and competition are pretty good changes for the better. Vanderbilt and Bama is a huge game this week!
this all damn day long. anyone who cries and complains about players being allowed to get paid now- makes no god damn sense to me. i guess you're the type of person who is cool with theft and exploitation?

And yeah- it's pretty cool that Vandy-Bama is actually a legit big game this week. wouldn't have ever been the case under the old way 15 years ago when Saban was just paying all the top recruits under the table and building a juggernaut and the 5*'s in his 2 and 3 deep were stuck at Bama cause they'd lose a year of eligibility if they decided they wanted to go somewhere else and actually play.

agreed. i actually love the parity. been awhile since we had that.
IMHO Bama had bagmen and Georgia/Fla loads of talent so sort of yes to that. However tOSU/UM/ND/USC  etc. also have been brand names with huge gates and advertising dollars. While so called 2nd/3rd Programs will never catch up to them now though there may be more parity amongst Blue Bloods. So we're right back to the same boring cycle of the same stout squads taking the hardware year after year. Like MLB

there is more parity right now than there ever has been in the sport. i can't remember the last time 5 weeks into a CFB season where I said damn anyone of 10-15 teams could actually win the Natty. can't remember the last time there was this many upsets. can't remember the last time Missouri, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Indiana, and Georgia Tech were all in the top 25- quarter of the top 25 are teams that have been perennial doormats.

Vanderbilt is only ranked because voters are stupid. Things are about to get real, starting this weekend. To date, they have played exactly nobody.

The win at South Carolina looked like a something at the time.

Any 5-0 P4 team will be ranked somewhere.

I’m enjoying the sport this season on an overall level.

I’m not enjoying how my team is doing, but the issues there are more about how things are being run. (The schedule is an issue, but they’re gonna be a poor 2-10, not a tough 5-7)

Are there 25 better resumes? Gotta put 25 teams in.

Vanderbilt is probably getting some extra mileage out of wins against overrated South Carolina and Virginia Tech squads, but they're probably also getting some lingering credibility from beating Alabama and Georgia Tech last year, and playing Texas and LSU pretty tough.

If they're a pretender, it'll get sorted out as the season progresses.

Voters vote with records in hand.
Vandy is 11th on SP+ and 16th in the AP. The algorithm likes them better than the people.
