Martinez isn't a good QB and hasn't improved. How many attempts does it take to figure that out? Hoping he improves isn't a great strategy.
So if he's still going to take the snap anyway, and their schedule didn't start until October last year, there was a window there. An offseason + 2 full months.

Or they can do what they're doing and lose to Illinois. Again.

That's a great point. Harbaugh peed down his leg in 2020 which makes him an easy target, no doubt about that. But it was a weird Covid year.Otherwise he has three 10 win seasons, one 9 win season, and one 8 win season. The comparisons of Harbaugh to Frost are ridiculous.

Harbaugh merely can't win the big game, whereas Frost can hardly win any game.

I wasn't trying to be funny or cute. I am trying to agree with you. A triple option can be installed in a week. Every team should already have the triple option play in their playbook. I don't see many teams running it even occasionally. You essentially have 3-plays that derive out of one play that goes left, and 3-plays that derive out of one play that goes right. Nebraska could just hone the option for a week in practice, and they might actually have something. They can add the option pass. Martinez should be a natural with the triple option. If they fall behind and need to pass the ball more frequently, bring in the 2nd team QB.

There are very few old school coaches left with the expertise to defend it, play-after-play. Nebraska week would be a whole new problem for each D-Coordinator.

I don't think it's nearly that easy to do and do well.
They had plenty of time to do it and didn't. And their program is what it is.

Yeah, I wouldn’t say it’s that easy. In truth, rejiggering an offense on the fly is pretty tricky. Can be done. Need to pull a Kentucky or something like that.

Is this implying that a QB change should happen for the sake of change, or am I misreading it?

This leads me to imaging what it would be like if Mullen went 10-3/11-2 into eternity, winning some SEC East titles but usually falling to the west champ. The school has never had that, though I suppose if you do that all the time, you’ll fall into a conference title at some point, plus the playoff will be a thing.

I recall Dan was the third choice. Kelly was first and Frost was second? Or am I forgetting someone.

I'm saying that since a QB change doesn't seem to be in the cards, adjust your offense to his strengths.

Dan Mullen won 9 games at Miss State with Nick Fitzgerald at QB. Guy couldn't pass at all. So he ran the ball a lot. 3 years later, Trask is a Heisman candidate for his passing. Same HC, passed the ball 35% with a poor passer and threw it 56% of the time with a good one.
Same offense, technically. But you build around your strengths.

From an observer's standpoint: what's the difference in UNL's offense vs Illinois yesterday and before the Covid extended break? Reminds me of Auburn with Bo Nix. It's a great offensive system if your main man is great. When he's only good, it breaks down.

Maybe Frost is screwed up by his start at UCF. First year, MacKenzie Milton sucked. The running game stunk. 2nd year, Milton is great, the RBs have great ypc averages, and they score score score. They progressed!

But as ppl have said here, Martinez had played at UNL for 18 years and has shown NO improvement.

Ohio State's run over roughly the last decade is literally one of the best in the history of cfb. You can’t get too worried about things like that.
