Husker History

The Nebraska Baseball team drew it's largest crowd in school history on April 14, 2006. There were 8,757 fans packed in Hawks Field at Haymarket Park to watch the Huskers defeat Texas A&M.

Give it up for Corbin Hawkins Friday. 👏

That's a career-high 3.1 IP of scoreless relief.

Due to lightning in the area and more severe weather looming to the west of Lincoln, Tuesday’s game between the Huskers and Creighton Bluejays has been suspended. “We will resume play at a later date to be determined.” is the wording by the Nebraska Athletic Department.

The obvious later date is May 9th, when the teams were scheduled to play the third game of the season series. The issue for Nebraska is this will switch the contest to Creighton’s home field, but there probably are not a whole lot of options at this point in the season, with finals looming around that time.

The game will resume at the exact point in which it was suspended. It was tied at four in the bottom of the 7th inning with no outs. Gabe Swansen will be up to bat, with Max Anderson on third base, Garrett Anglim on second base, and Charlie Fischer on first base.

Creighton was bringing in a new pitcher, but stalling in their decision at the point in which the game was stopped. I’d be surprised if they didn’t use Friday night starter Ryan Windham under the guise of it being his “bullpen day” to try and get out of the desperate situation they are in.

Looking at the BA tournament projection, it appears the Big Ten has regressed some this year

Alabama fires its head coach for betting against his own team.  Particularly in a game where he pulled his scheduled starter and had a guy make an emergency start

A&M not doing to hot this year after making the CWS last year, but better than Ole Miss who won the whole shebang last year (2nd to last).

We did take 2/3 from Fla, but lost to Sam Houston last week.

So MSU has had a couple years where their Big 10 resume has been solid, but they lose too many stupid weeknight games.  It kind of makes sense that a mid tier Big Ten school wouldn't have a great #4 pitcher.  But do the mid majors they play pitch their aces in that game?  If they are also pitching their #4, it makes equally less sense

Yeah most small regional teams will start their aces on a Tues/Wed game against a "big boy" team.  Just the way it goes.
