I'd simply blame Urban Meyer and Zach Smith and move on

Exactly.
At a minimum I think he would have needed to set the single season sack record and he can't realistically do that without the UMD and RU games.
I wouldn’t count this kid out. He’s the type of player that could throw down 4-5 sacks in a game. He puts down 20-22 sacks with 8 or 9 forced fumbles and has a big impact in both the OSU & UM games, anything is still possible.

i always think OsU is involved in rampant cheating ( ;)), while this I think is very minor.

Officially, Arizona State's Terrell Suggs holds the NCAA's single-season record with 24 sacks in 2002.
Yep, officially.

Yet on the best college football source - collegefootballreference.com - sacks only go back to 2005, so it's Dumervil's 20 in 2005.
And unofficially, it's Derrick Thomas' 27 in 1988.

wait, so the "family friend" Chase Young borrowed money from was an NFLPA certified agent according to ProFootballTalk. If that's true, think that might be all she wrote for Chase Young's college career.

Which honestly, might not be a bad thing for him. He's a lock to be the #1 pick in the 2020 draft imo. Really is there anyone even close to him? Cause I don't see who the hell would be a better pick than him. He's proto-type size for the position plus he's got the production that matches. He's got nothing to gain and everything to lose by getting injured.

It still has major consequences for him personally. He had a legitimate chance to be the first defensive player in more than 20 years and second ever to win the Heisman, not anymore.
he had zero shot to win the Heisman. Let's be real here. No defensive player is going to win it anytime soon.

Gonna have to be a transcendent defensive player with the swagger and "IT" factor who also moonlights on offense and special teams. An every-down defensive player is just never gonna win it. Ever.

If another defensive player wins it, it's going to have to be someone like Woodson that also makes big splash plays on offense and special teams as well as being a dominant player on defense.

He's a top ten pick if not top one pick obviously.  The Bungles might get #1 and draft a QB from Hawaii with gaudy numbers.

So will the Buckeyes vacate all the wins they chalked up were Young was on the field when illegible?  His contributions have been significant.

I am not sure there is precedent for that in this case.

Gurley was suspended four games for selling signed materials in college.  His team did not vacate any wins.

There is precedent.  In 2010 Ohio State players traded memorabilia and autographs for tattoos and cash which Jim Tressel covered up.  Since the players were ineligible the NCAA vacated all of the Buckeye's wins for 2010 as part of the sanctions.

Yes, but no precedent for a single player receiving benefits and vacating wins, while there are examples where wins were not vacated.

Yeah the OSU punishment previously wasn't at all about what the players did, and primarily about the cover up. At least that's how I remember it.

The vacated wins thing only punishes stat needs.
