After 29 straight, you aren't used to an L.  So you tend to make excuses and claim "it wasn't fair".  Meh, it happened, life goes on.  I'm pretty realistic, usually, and am now.  I'm just 'amused' with how an orange bowl is a disappointment.  I wonder how many players will opt out.

Yeah, it's just a kind of weird feeling.  I guard against it, but it's there.

They are nearly a 2 TD favorite in the bowl game.

I bet the players are lacking motivation now as well.  I suppose they could finish as high as #3.

We stopped at our favorite burger place for lunch yesterday.  The city had Peachtree Street closed off, as they do on occasion, for "Streets Alive".  It's a pretty neat event, folks enjoy it, the weather was decent.  Anyway, Farm Burger has three nice TVs at the bar where we ate, all on the NFL (which I almost never watch).

They had the Falcons on, and they won to get to 6-6, in first place somehow.  They were playing with more evident intensity than I often notice in NFL games, so good for them.  If they get to say 9-7, I might pay slight attention, probably not, as I'd expect an early bounce in any playoff.  But in a way, it would seem like a decent season.

We as fans need to find what makes us "happier" in our fandom and not let an adverse result "ruin our day/month/year".  If you become completely apathetic and negative, that isn't being a fan.  If ANY loss sends you to despair, that isn't healthy.  I know how Ohio State fans feel now as well, and probably FSU fans.

LSU vs Wisconsin in Tampa. Is there enough alcohol in that town?

Badge, you gonna drive up for that one?
I strongly dislike making that bowl.

is it weird that I kind of hate the early New Year’s bowls? I know some people really love the idea of them. But I watched Wisconsin in so many of them, I’d kind of rather just not dedicate the early afternoon of that day to having feelings about a game.

Sounds like Spurrier when he left Florida.

On paper, is Liberty the worst G5 representative to ever appear in a NY6 bowl?

That Pitt team that lost 35-7 to an Alex Smith-led Utah team was prettyyyyy bad.
They were ranked, but really sucked.
They beat Furman by 3.
They averaged 2.6 yards per carry.
They had a +3 point diff per game.
.
Plus Utah had lost Meyer to Florida, so Whittingham was an interim HC for the game.  Those situations tend not to turn out well.

Wasn't there a 7-5 UConn team one year?

I think they were 8-4.  8-5 after the bowl.  That might be the answer if you were asking who was the worst P6 team to play in a BCS Bowl.

A little different though from a G5 going to a NY6 bowl,  a format not really adapted until 2014.   But before that there were rules that 1 non-BCS team could get into a BCS Bowl if they were ranked in the top 16.   I think that's how NIU got in.

Western Michigan got in the Cotton Bowl in 2016,  so that must have been a NY6 bowl at that point.

Liberty is definitely at risk of being the worst roster ever.  Their offense might help with the outcome, but probably safe to say the least talented ever.
Although any Hawai'i team probably has major depth issues, including the Sugar Bowl team that UGA humbled.
