Gophers to Detroit vs Bowling Green on Christmas +1. I guess I'm going down to Ford Field that day.

Shew, WVU got a huge break getting UNC in the Mayo Bowl.  All week we’d been hearing projections of playing  Memphis in the Liberty or Bowling Green God knows where.

Then it broke today that the Big 12, SEC, and ESPN had negotiated a swap. The Mayo is a SEC vs. ACC bowl.  But the Big 12 has more bowl eligible teams than bowl slots and the SEC more slots than bowl eligible teams this year. So, they worked  it out to send WVU to Charlotte.

I figure Maye will skip the bowl but I don’t care.  It’s a good opponent in an easy to get to city for a ton of WVU fans.  Very happy with this matchup.

Maybe. We leave for Cabo soon after that so I'm not sure. I'll keep an eye on prices for good tickets. Right now the good seats are at $400.00. That's not gonna happen. Not to mention.. when in Tampa, must go here:

We've talked before about this, but as a fan, this year seems like a failure, to me.  Expectations -> disappointment.  (I didn't expect another NC, but clearly it was a possibility.)  I guess this is inherent for fans of "elite" teams, maybe not so much Texas, should they lose a close game first round.

The Braves did a similar thing, record breaking season in many ways, and then out in the first round (which I kind of expected).

I guess I predicted the loss to Bama too.  But for fans, I think "we" need to somehow temper our fan support with better understanding that upsets do happen along the way.

Sorry, FSU fans.

it's tough to win em all
usually takes a little luck along the way
really tough to win 3 national titles in a row
tougher to endure losing seasons year after year

I lose interest as a fan in a team that consistently loses, except for the old Braves.  I watched them on TBS pretty often.  If they lost, it was no big deal.  It's about expectations.  If you team does better than expected, you feel pretty good, usually.  The problem is when expectations are 15-0 (ish).    It's my problem, not the team's of course.  I'm seeing it on facebook a lot, fans with complaints about the refs and Bobo and whatever else, it's kind of sad really, and a lesson.

After 29 straight, you aren't used to an L.  So you tend to make excuses and claim "it wasn't fair".  Meh, it happened, life goes on.  I'm pretty realistic, usually, and am now.  I'm just 'amused' with how an orange bowl is a disappointment.  I wonder how many players will opt out.
