Getting that standard kind of nervous about the big game tonight. Waiting to see the program permanently transition out of rebuild mode to maintenance mode and finally climb out of Harbaugh's 5-8 record versus Top 25 teams.

Good news, it’s coming. This weather is always a sign that we’re a blink of an eye away from lake effect snow.
Have 2 Oaks close to my house and I don't ever recall the barrage of acorns we've had this year. It doesn't necessarily mean a bad winter but the past two were relatively mild. But the two before that were ice-age cold.I have been filling at least one 5 gallon bucket a day from around the driveway with acorns. It seems to be subsiding but the last 3 weeks I thought I was next to a golf range

Harbaugh might someday have an all timer of a season like he did at Stanford.

For the most part Harbaugh's gonna Harbaugh; soundly beating the teams that he should, which will get him in or around the ten win club annually, keeping his job secure.

he needs to overhaul that offense and evolve. mainly his passing game. if he doesn't, he'll never live up to the promise.
Ed Warriner was a freaking great hire. He took a trash OL unit and through half a season he's made them a little bit better every single week. Still nowhere near they need to be, but I have been blown away but how much better he's made that OL. That dude is for real.

Don Brown is about as good as it gets for a DC, Mattison is about as good as it gets for a DL coach, and Mike Zordich has been impressive coaching up those CB's. Chris Partridge and Al Washington are young, energetic, great recruiters who have helped Michigan recruit at a high level on that defense. Washington has Michigan right in the thick of it for 5* all-everything DE recruit Zach Harrison. If they land Harrison- it'll be 100% because of Washington.

If they can't develop that passing game to get them over the hump, it'll be a real shame. Patterson is a big-time talent and with Black back not sure I've seen Michigan have WR's this talented in a long time.

Will be a waste of a pretty good special teams unit and an elite defense if they don't figure out that offense this year. Harbaugh wasted an elite defense in 2016 by having a lousy offense and losing to Iowa by 1 and blowing the game in Columbus.

The end to that season was perhaps entirely on Speight's injury. He was hobbled and newly erratic QB afterward and single-handedly gave OSU life, whereas before his two INTs, Don Brown had *completely* downloaded and paralyzed their offense.
Injuries happen. Great teams have answers and depth when they do. So of course it's bad that Michigan didn't have viable back-ups behind Speight. But in 2016, that one was mostly bad on Hoke for letting Al Borges - he who across more than a decade literally never recruited a QB who finished his college career as starter - pick the team's QBs.

It's sounding like both Solomon and Black may be back for the game tonight. Those are two of Michigan's best players. I hope they have very low snap counts. Their sustained health is essential to finish the schedule on top.

That 16 game was epic. But be honest, while UM neutered OSUs offense after their opening drive, they couldn’t stop them when it mattered.   OSU had 2 long drives in the last 5 minutes, one resulting in a missed field goal, the next successful.    Then in OT...

And Speight gave OSU 14 points. But yes, Michigan's defense wasn't truly perfect, just mostly. If Speight were uninjured, it'd have been enough to win, perhaps (likely?) by multiple scores. But OSU capitalized and won it themselves. That's the tapestry. And you're right, it was epic. Much moreso than 2006, TBH.

I wish UW would get some good news on the injury front. Need to have more DB's for today, and there is not much to be "heard" on anything right now.

Whoa!! Black? I thought we were talking late in the season for him.

Yeah, it showed up in the game thread last night. Black tweeted something cryptic and it was showing up soon after on the radio and, before any of this, the commentators in the USF-Tulsa game seemed to break the news. It's very weird but incrementing toward true.

Buckeyes give up a couple plays but then get a pick on a ill-advised throw from the Minny QB
