A bit of that, and that they are also starving for sales. January is tough on big ticket retail. Nobody has any money left.

I have not noticed much difference, but January sounds like a shot to me.  Each brand has different marketing programs at different times.

Some brands like Bosch have one sale per year, and some discounts if you buy three at other times.

The tariffs are in play here now as well.

I just bought all new appliances on the new build.   I think there's a fair amount of truth to Badge's point.   The model cycle isn't necessarily uniform, but one thing is true,   if you like a specific model/style pounce on it, as these outfits make subtle changes, and things get discontinued pretty quickly.    We had this work against us when we wanted a specific model of Franke kitchen sink, which they stopped making, which ticked us off.

We bought a Bosch cooktop for the old house off the floor.  It was "last one", brand new, but they couldn't sell it because it was inductive.  Folks looking for black cooktops didn't know what that meant.  So, it was discounted from about $2000 to about $1100.  You can at times find these deals at Big Boxes if you look long enough.

Lowes' also has a 5% discount if you use their credit card, even on sale items.  It helps.

The range we bought for the condo was not on sale at all, but I thought we needed it in a hurry for the kitchen redo (it was delayed).  So, it sat in a corner during the delay and I saw a Bosch 10% off come 6 weeks later, bummer.  It was too long to get the sale price at Lowes'.  I asked.

The good news is we both really like that range.

depending on how many appliances you need, you could go to one of the big box stores (lowes/home depot/etc) and get a contractor discount. usually need to spend $5000+, but if you're buying all new appliances, you should meet that. discount is usually around 15%. they'll take a ticket, submit to corporate, and list a discount on each item. some items might be 20-30%, some might be 10%, but usually rounds to around 15% total. at least that's how i've done it in past.

also, don't be like me and insist on getting all same brand/model. do a little research and get best appliance for it's specialty. i wish i'd done research and gotten best product for each one instead of all just looking the same. my stove/range is great, but my fridge is just ok and my dishwasher is terrible. washer/dryer were fine, but they were bought a different time and are a different brand and getting old, so i might be in same market as you soon.

That's a good point,  I don't think I have any matching appliance brands, aside from our ovens and cooktop.

I will also second NOT buying Maytag or Samsung.  They are terrible.  Samsung washers and dryers are built so badly they actually corrode away.  Maytag is now cheap parts under a formerly nice brand.

Buying a big brand, then downgrading it to cheap crap and capitalizing on the profits seems to be a big thing these days.  Here's a list of companies that were once amazing but are now terrible.

Bose
Craftsman
Breyer's Ice Cream
Maytag

I'm sure there are many more.

I only buy them when one of them dies

then I don't wait for a sale

it's urgent

I really liked the GE Café range and Advantium we had in our old place. Good quality and reasonable cost. Can't beat Bosch for the dishwasher. The Samsung fridge we had... lots of trouble but the place we got it from stood by it and made the repairs. The icemaker in those things sucks.

Now we have a Wolf stove and the Sub Zero fridge in our rental. The fridge is fantastic. I liked my GE better than the Wolf, to be honest. I miss the warming drawer/oven and I miss the self cleaning feature.
