We're in Fulton, not Cobb County, but it's 8.9%, less on groceries, I think 4% on that.  We have a 1.4% transit tax.

I don't have any state income tax on retirement income up to $130,000, I can work with that.

We get 10% off restaurant bills other than alcohol in midtown, so that covers it (when we dine in midtown).  I'm usually a decent tipper if the server makes a good effort.

This has become a very popular place to live with the younger folks who can afford it.  Our building is mostly older folks (50+).  There are construction cranes all over, especially in what is called west midtown across the freeway, land is a lot cheaper over there.  Stuff going up over here is mostly mid and high rise buildings, apartments and office space mostly.

My property tax rate here is about the same as it was in Cincy in the 'burbs, so that is not too bad, but the condo costs quite a bit more than our house up there was worth, almost double.  The sales tax here is high to support mass transit, it recently went up for that, but the announced plans to actually BUILD more mass transit seem to be well off into the future.  There is a lot of carping about that right now.  We have the Beltline which is a sort of circle around downtown of old RR beds that is being turned into walking/bike paths and it has been very successful but folks want light rail installed over most or all of it, and the city is only looking at 7 miles and some other stuff.

The Beltline is packed on weekends especially with folks walking, biking, on scooters, skates, you name it, it's somewhat dangerous with the bikes especially.  There has been a construction boom along the path which means more revenue for the city.  As usual, I don't think too much of the city government.

The state income tax rate on earned income is 6% which is a point higher than in Ohio.  Gasoline prices are pretty modest at least, $2.60 or so right now.  Food prices are the same as in Cincy.  I get my license plate for free at least.  That was like $62 a year in Ohio.  No big deal.

The wife really likes living here, she just needs to get her leg fixed up, apparently a pinched nerve in her back.

During the months when my boat is in the water, I shop for everything (really) in Wisconsin. 5.5% sales tax there. Wisconsin does tax retirement income (Illinois does not - YET).

Go see a really good manual therapist before ever considering surgery.  Not all PTs are created equal, see a MANUAL therapist, preferably one with MTI certification.

My i s c & a aggie PT wife has an excellent track record of treating spinal-related injuries that manifest as pain elsewhere, it's one of her specialties.  She discovers the dysfunction and treats it to increase mobility and smoothness of motion.  It really works.  You should definitely only consider surgery as a last resort.

Surgery is for sure the last result. Building core strength is the first thing any doctor will tell you. Then they'll tell you to try shots (fluoroscope is mandatory here, in my opinion). 

There are certain conditions that just cannot be treated holistically or with pain management. That's then the knife comes into play.

Shots would be the next thing in the treatment progression. Fluoroscopy is the key there.

Yeah, I know.  We didn't have sports medicine back in the day, I just "hurt my arm".  It was never the same after that game.  I try and stretch a lot and my left arm stretches nicely with no pain.  I thought about trying to learn to throw left handed, I bat left handed as it is.  It's really all about fantasy camp.  I'm almost the oldest guy there, my legs don't work that well, and they let me pitch a couple of innings each year.  I do "OK", the pitching there is not that good with very few exceptions anyway.

I just grit and bear the pain.  Otherwise I play 1B so I don't throw that much.  I'm tall and that helps and the runners are usually slow so I can come off the base and field a bad throw if needed and get back to the base in time.  I went back 5 years ago thinking I'd better do it then if ever, I went in 1992 also.  It was hilariously fun.

I'd just like to be able to throw a bit like I could back in the day.
