Fields has done more under duress than Stroud.  Stroud gets it out quickly most times, but has also generally had a clean pocket on his deep throws.  Stroud hasn't shined enough in pressure spots to put him over Fields.
This.  Stroud has not been in many big games really if any. Michigan will pop him every chance they get even after he throws. Their mission will be get him off his game, and we really don’t know how he will respond to that.  With Fields it just made him get stronger as the game went on.

If Michigan wins out, obviously they are in.  No doubt.

Simple equation here.

Totally. And they would deserve to be in the playoff. With the possible exception of Georgia I don’t see a big difference between the next three or four or five teams.

They are all in a group I think, including UGA.

Yeah - if you need that one perfect throw, or one perfect play, Fields is probably the guy. But OTOH the offense is setting records because of Stroud and his ability to get the ball out on time and to the right guy. Guess we'll see what is preferable against Michigan

I like Stroud a lot- but I think a lot of that record setting has to do with the WR's.....OSU has never had a WR crew this good. Olave is a SR, Wilson a JR and both those dudes are fully realized and JSN a Soph that's ahead of schedule. They are all going to go over 1,000 this year and they are all going to be 1st rd picks. Stroud is really good- but those guys make his job a hell of a lot easier. Not to mention Henderson is a stud RB and the OL is really good.

Fields would be smashing records too with this crew had he come back.

Well, yes, they are good. But last year they had all three as well as Jameson Williams, who is currently 8th in the country in receiving

Well considering there were only 6 regular season games played by OSU vs 12 in 2021- kind of hard to compare stats from 2020 to 2021.

BUT...last year Jameson Williams was a true soph- who wasn't quite ready for prime-time in 2020. He had issues catching the football. He's seemed to have worked on those hands a lot this off-season in Tuscaloosa. Olave & Wilson were ahead of him last year and JSN passed him in spring which is why he transferred...so last year really doesn't matter.

JSN got A LOT better and made a huge jump from his true freshman season- as most really talented players do- Olave came back for his senior year and kicked it up another notch- as a lot of guys do as seniors- and Wilson just took another leap forward. It happens. These guys are all better than they were last year and they are playing twice as many games- so they were bound to put up better numbers.

Ohio State has improved dramatically from where they were in their first three games when they only beat Minnesota by two TD's, lost to Oregon, and struggled with Tulsa.

The offense gets all the hype and deservedly so but the defense seems to be peaking at the right time. Purdue put up 31 points and a decent amount of yards but that may be misleading because the game was over almost before it started. While tOSU was amassing their 28 point lead the Boilermakers had one nice TD drive and three short drives culminating in two punts and a fumble.

Look, if Ohio State plays like they did in the first 20 minutes of the Purdue game and the first half of the MSU game then the Buckeyes will win easily. How well Michigan plays will simply determine how bad of a loss they take.

That said, Michigan's defense is much better than MSU's and Ohio State isn't nearly as bad of a match up nightmare for them as for MSU so I don’t expect the Buckeyes to replicate the MSU game.

Just how good is OSU's OL?  How many times did Sparty rush three, four, or blitz?  Everyone knew Sparty's pass defense was bad but I though their DL was good.  Good enough to put some pressure Stroud but that really didn't happen much if memory serves me.  I deleted the game off the DVR on Saturday in disgust but wish I hadn't.  BTN has this game in 60 at 4:30 PM..

Natural progression, good teams do that, they seem to be clicking but haven't gone toe to toe with someone in their weight class sans Oregon. The Ducks had taken them out of tempo/rhythm some what and it paid off.How will tOSU respond in a close game? Day's a good coach obviously,he has to keep them confident when they are not scoring 28-49 pts a half. How will the defense respond when they are out there around half the time

I would blitz OSU from odd angles on nearly every play, I think, as opposed to dropping 11 trying to cover, that won't work.

And yes, I know they could hurt me on the ground.

I'm sure UGA has tape, and a better DC than I could ever be.  I don't think anyone could stop OSU, but you might mix in enough stops to stay in the game.  Michigan has a shot I think, at home.
