#3 Ohio State (5-0, 8-0) at Wisconsin (3-2, 5-3) Postgame
« on: October 23, 2023, 09:38:48 AM »
Preseason I thought this was a tough break for Ohio State. Camp Randall is a notoriously tough venue for visitors and Ohio State is coming off of an emotionally draining high-end matchup with Penn State.

So far this season, Wisconsin has not performed up to my expectations. Half-way through the Maryland game I'd have said the same thing about Ohio State but, IMHO, the last ten quarters of Ohio State football have been at a Championship level.

If Ohio State can sustain their recent level then IMHO, this will not be close. OTOH, it is REALLY tough to actually do that, it is much easier said than done. The Penn State game was one of the biggest of the year (nationally, not just for tOSU) so it wouldn't be shocking if the Buckeyes came into this a little hungover.

I think the key to the game for Wisconsin is to start extremely well then hope to be able to hang on once Ohio State gets in gear.

OSU has better athletes at almost every position on the field, except for one safety.

The UW OL is not a UW OL. None of the 4-5 STARZ are playing up to that rating, and I'd rather skip that crap and go with the 2-3* maulers of the past.

The front 7 on D is well below standard. They can't set the edge at all. Just look what the Illinois QB did to them. No contain at all.

No way this is close.

Is Henderson playing? That'll make it even worse.

Despite all of this... I'll watch it. Probably in a drunken state to ease the pain.

Interesting that last week, UW played a former UW coach on the road and got the win.

(I can't believe how ginormous Bert has gotten - walking heart attack.)

This week, OSU plays a former OSU coach on the road and will get the win.

(Fickell is still in playing shape.)

Nothing comfortable about this game for me. Wiscy on the road. Against Fickell.

If Wisconsin's defense plays up to their potential and Allen has a big day, Wisconsin can upset the Buckeyes.

PS. Double team Harrison Jr.

We have yet to have a major upset this year, that I can recall, and this won't be it I suspect.

Of course they do. All I can do is hope they are rusty.

Not sure about that but UW is down Mordecia which is never a good thing so I looked up the replacement. Luke Fickell now has to rely on redshirt freshman, Braedyn Locke, to handle the snaps. Locke was the No. 22 rated QB in the 2022 class and transferred to Wisconsin after seeing no action at Mississippi State his freshman season. He's played in 3 games with a 50% completion rate So it could be worse but I haven't followed them much this season besides a few preseason reads that had them and the Hawkeyes perched at the top in the West.Evidently they will lean on Braelon Allen who is averaging almost six yards per carry and eight touchdowns.

The Buckeye defense just faced two of the best backs in the country, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, holding them in check. As long as Knowles doesn’t try to get cute and continues to do what has been working this season, I like the OSU defense in this matchup. If weather is decent maybe McCord can work on his passing which has been spotty and not certain who will be toting the rock for tOSU.But game is at the camp at night and strange things have happened.. Hopefully it is a good injury free game and the students can find their seats by the 1st QTR - is that a tradition or something?
